A-11, he has...the reason for that is b/c he cannot get off a tackle when the DE gets on him. So they back him out into coverage and bring someone else in....

Think about this, what is the big copmlaint on Brian Urlacher; he cannot get off tackles, but he's fast and smart. I think that Shea very much fits that mold.

easy fix, lets stick Shea in the middle and go find two fatass's like Traylor and Washington to plug up the middle and let shea roam free behind the line, ill bet if urlacher had more time with Traylor and wahsington his numbers would have been even better

Well if the Bears fail to make the playoffs, Lovie is likely fired. Then we do not need to worry abou drafting or grooming a player for the Tampa 2. A new HC will have a new defensive scheme

I wish I knew how well Shea defended the pass. One thing we know is that right now the linebackers have to be able to cover. If Lovie is gone, that could change some.

I see McClellin as a player with good drive and instincts, adequate quickness, who does not have the strength to be truly disruptive, not yet anyways.

Definitely an assassin type who has been easily taken out. While he has beat the O line on a few plays, it hasn't happened as much as we would like. He's shown that he can do some damage with help, or when unaccounted for so I don't see why he shouldn't get a chance at backing.

I'm glad he has done fairly well in the rotation, but I still hold on to hope of getting something more outta him.

Not necessarily Benji. Even if Lovie goes, the new coach may see a lot of talent on board that knows the Tampa 2 well. All of that equity may influence him to stay the course. Or he may be another Tamoa 2 advocate. Quite honestly, there are many ways to skin the cat, so I don't care... as long as it is aggressive and effective.

In regards to Shea, I felt it was a wasted pick on draft day and my mind hasn't changed, I root like hell for him but I'd like to see some backer work because so long as we run a 4-3 it was a wasted pick

He's done. Great playing career, but he's done. Yes, he can make an occasional solid play for us (he had one yesterday). But for every one of those he has a number of times he simply can't make the play. Missed tackles. Getting blocked like a rook at times.

He's becoming a guy we can't count on.

The Urlacher of a few years ago would have been a stud yesterday - and no way the Seahawks would have run that ball down our throats. Urlacher would have stopped that cold, and we would have won yesterday.
    Go Bears!

I completely agree and I disagree with the statement earlier that we wouldn't move on T'eo if he fell past top 12. That being said with Shea's lack of promise and BU looking like the end is near maybe he needs some LB reps here and there

I can't agree with McC being a wasted pick. 14 tackles and 3 sacks is NOT a total wash, especially if you consider being out for two games, and his overall snap count. Shea also had some pressure/hits (like many others) that does not show up in the stats. So the statistics aren't inflated as some others are.

Is Shea that big of a liability in Run D? I'm just a fan with limited knowledge, so I can't disagree with the comments made. I do see that he needs to figure out how to shed blocks better, but at 260 he never was going to be able to consitantly eat up holes on the line anyways.

The article putting McClellin 3rd on the list out of 7 of the prominant rushers drafted this year, also doesn't hurt my claim.

I am not ready to say he is a wasted pick either. I also wondered about the pick, but have grown to like it more. I am still optimistic on him. I will say that he has not turned out to be an immediate impact player of the caliber that I was hoping for. I'd have to say he deserves at least one more season before the word bust can be considered. It's not like he hasn't produced. It's just not at a first round level caliber -- and it may never be there, but I'm willing to see what happens next year.
