Knox and Marshall would have been deadly. Knox is/was the only deep threat on the roster. We need to address that in the middle rounds of the draft if Knox is unable to return. AJ, Knox, and B Marsh would be top WR corps in league. I think Earl Bennett is overrated and is a C player, while a healthy Knox was a very good one-trick pony and a C+/B- wideout IMO.
Do you? Well, his numbers are pretty good in terms of drops. He dropped one ... maybe it was two this last game, but he is at or near the top of the list for not dropping balls. I wish the four of them were all active. that is a pretty good corps in my opinion.Quote:

Knox is(in the eyes of many bears fans) over rated though. Ya he's a good deep threat, and fast, but he's also had bad problem w/keeping his feet under him and slipping which causes a lot of missed passes/big plays/stalled drives and int's; and also caused the Cutler injury that ruined the season. If we can afford to replace Hester/Bennett then we can afford to replace Knox. Knox would have also been limited to probably sharing the 3rd/4th wr role w/bennett/hester b/c of his own limitations. He would have been a good addition to the team, but I don't know that he's the big difference maker in this season since the OL rarely gave Cutler time to throw the ball deep.
Btw, by all accounts he still walks w/a limp and many question if he'll ever be able to play again, let alone at the same level he was playing. Might as well get him out of your heads, and just pray that he's able to come back(ie hope for a miracle).
yeah. I hate to talk about it, but I have pretty much resolved that he won't be back. I really hope that he proves me wrong next year.
I agree with what you say. I personaly like Bennett and we need another guy to stretch the field. We could upgrade Bennett, but don't know that we need to spend money there. We have quite a selection of other issues to address first.
I regards to our WR's. I'd still place Bennett as our second best WR. As near as I can tell, the only chance for Bennett to be concussed was on his TD play. This would mean that when he dropped that long pass, he would have been looking into the sun (they showed a shot of the sun at the time, a giant mass of superlighted clouds), trying to make a play at a full run, while concussed. While Jay put that ball right on his hands, I'm willing to give Bennett the benefit of the doubt. Usually we use him on shorter routes.
I would put Jeffery up as our third best WR by the slimmest of margins though. This is due to a smaller body of work, and the fact that Jeffery is on the same field with Marshall. For an accurate measurement, we would need a few games in which our receiving corps was A. Jeffery and E. Bennett in order to get the data to compare. With out the data, it's largely a matter of opinion.
What we really need is ONE of these two to be on the field with Marshall.
Sorry but even if Knox can play next year I don't see him on this team. Even if we lose Hester and Sanzenbacher I am sure we will bring in another big play WR plus the team is very high on at least one of our PS guys and I am sure we won't stop with bring in just one new guy.
A big LOL at Knox being our second best receiver. He was very weak, never fought DBs for balls, ran poor routes, fell down a lot, and dropped his fair share of passes. While I do agree that we need a deep threat in our offense, and he would have helped this year if healthy, he is far from our 2nd best receiver. He is 4th best, and only by default. Still, I wish him the best in his recovery. I think a speed receiver to take his place will be found on the third day of the draft next year.
I wish Knox the best but I doubt he will play again. I would like to see us get an explosive TE & a quick, slot type WR who can make people miss. You know, the kind of WR we all want Hester to be but he not. Starting next year Hester should be used only as a return guy unless our 4th WR goes down. This would improve our WR corps overall & give Hester the chance to spend all of his time doing what he does best. RETURNING KICKS FOR TDS!
Incidentally, I cussed when I saw this thread, thinking Jeffery was placed on IR. I'm glad it's just someone overvaluing Knox.
