Jay Cutler is awesome. Seriously he wants to stay here and retire as a Bear. He has been a Bear fan all his life and Im pretty sure they will give him what he wants. seeing that they gave him Marshall and drafted a big receiver in Jeffrey. I know they will grab him maybe a couple of Linemen, especially since he said he will take a paycut. And I hope they cut Webb so he can get a job at Taco Bell...

Yet another leadership move.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

I'm pretty impressed by this classy and wise move by Jay (assuming he's being serious). It seems like 2 evolving perspectives are coming together here. One, is Jay's realization that winning SBs is more important to him than squeezing every last penny out of free agency. Another is the FO and fans seeing that we simply don't win without him. That has been amply demonstrated over the past 2 years.
I was worried that Cutler might be so frustrated by now that he would want out of here. He's been pretty badly mishandled by this organization--given terrible OLs, crap receivers, and shitty OCs pretty much all along here. I'm glad he sees enough worthwhile to stay and I have to believe that a lot of that is Marshall and Emery listening to him to make it happen.

It's good to hear . I'd bet though that they are still gonna have to guarantee him a hefty sum but maybe figure out some way of spreading it out so he's a lower cap hit . And ( as many weird clauses as are written into contracts these days ) I wouldn't be surprised if he asks for some good faith opt out clause ( as in good faith they're actually going to sign quality O-linemen) . So if , in his estimation , they don't live up to that end , he might have the option .
Actually I don't even know if a clause like this is doable . If it was , it's the kind of thing that would be kept hush hush anyways . But , after what he's been through , it's something I'd do if I were him . Cuz it's one thing to be grateful you're even a pro . It's another thing to be an established pro but feel like you're career is being wasted if you can see your organization isn't doing enough to help .

Cutler wants to stay. Why shouldn't he. Have you never dreamed of being a record holder on the team you love and cheer for growing up?
I'm sure he imagined this as kid and now that it's true, he wants to stay.
Guy is smart. He will make more than enough money but improving the team could earn him more money after his career or at the end of it. SB QBs get paid no matter how good they are at the end

Your comment below just made me go from loving Jay to being one of his haters. How come he gets to live his dream to play and retire as a Bear. I had that same dream throughout my NFL career but it never happen. Oh wait I remember now he is far better player then I ever was. And I guess since the Bears had the greatest RB of all time on there roster at the time that didn't help me either. Ok, I stopped hating him now, I am back to loving the guy because he can be a great QB once we get him some more tools to work with.
