If there is a strong desire by ownership to get a quality HC then I wouldn't worry about the change for change's sake argument. Lovie has had a long tenure but in the end if it's championships that ownership craves they cannot get it currently with the existing mindset.

The reasons Lovie has trouble beating top tier coaches is because of what has been discussed ad-infinitum and there is also that of having specific tendencies, techniques, and philosophies that over time creates a pattern for the opponent to counter.

For example take the 'Skins game last night vs.the Giants. They used an I type of pistol formation that was simple enough to implement, flexible enough to flip the play, and smart enough to utilize RGIII to the best of his abilities. The best facet of it is that it was different from the traditional type of O the Giants were used to facing. The 'Skins were able to dislocate the teams strength-their pass rush.

I can't even see Lovie and co. even doing something such as this on a tactical level. I would be a huge proponent for them to stay if they were able to be fluid in their game-planning and be able to be tactically flexible. All I see nowadays is stubbornness, myopia, and changing the plan only when forced to by injuries.

Add in readable, predictable tendencies I can't see a recipe for winning a championship much less a playoff game.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like this Vikes game will determine our season. The fat lady may not be singing yet, but she's certainly warming up back stage.

And folks will reply to this saying "There's a lot of football left to play" but my thinking is that if we have no answer to the Vikings Sunday, then we're done. We may have to watch a slow painful death as the season winds down.

If we do come out and look like a solid team, then our season has hope. But Sunday is "show time" as far as I'm concerned.

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Tere are two easier games left also. Even if we lose to the Vikings, I still see a 10-6. Getting into the playoffs can be close. I am not too worried about it for two reasons. I'm not being a smart ass with these either.

    1) I don't see too big an issue getting into the post season

    2) I don't see us winning anything (or maybe 1 if we are lucky) in the postseason.

Therefore, I'm not really too stressed about whether we get in or not. I just see no way we are going to be competitive enough to get close to the SB. So I'm just enjoying the ride as far as it goes this year and looking forward to what happens in the post season. I'm taking the season for what it is and enjoying as much as I can.

OK, well that's the rational, mature and healthy way to go about it. I prefer to be irrational, immature and work to see how bloody my ulcers can get. Furthermore, if we still don't win the Superbowl, I'm going to shave the Bears tat on my shoulder blade off with an angle grinder.

I like it. Replace the tatoo of the Bears with a "tatoo" of a scar.
