Do you ever think of what "might have been" if we had a stud oline?

I'm not conviced Emery doesn't get some blame in this too.

We supposedly coveted Bruce Irvin so much Marinelli was there the night before the draft, and when we didn't get him we panicked and took Shea waaaay before anyone else would have drafted him. This implies we were drafting for position first, not best available player.....AND that we thought DE was our biggest need. But the story doesn't end in the first round, I sat there and watched as we made pick after pick with better OL's available than some of the folks we trot out there.

JA is at fault, but so is Emery. Let's just hope he isn't as stubborn as JA.

damn right. We saw no impact from marinelli until we got peppers and we will see no impact on the oline unless we find some real talent.


JA is gone so Im not blaming this year on him. Emery had plenty of options to improving this oline and decided the best move was Rachal and Scott much much later after they released CW. This season is on Emery for adding jack shit

I'm not saying I want Lovie gone, but how much of the focus on drafting defense is due to him being the coach? Everyone (even non-Bears fans) can see that the offensive line was pathetic and we still did not draft a single offensive lineman this year. New general manager, same neglect for the offensive line. The only thing in common is Lovie and he being a defensive minded coach. This team must begin transferring to relying on the offense due to the age of the defense and unless talent is drafted/signed for the offensive line, we won't be able to depend on either side of the ball.

I think someone already mentioned that Lovie was given more control of the players brought in after the SB. It might well be the case, ecspecially when you think of how many failed pieces we got ecspecially at DB, and DE. If any of those hit they;d have been in a better position the following year to create depth, but instead found themselves constanty drafting DL and DB's.

If Abilene Christian is any indication I'd sure say so.

We should grab up some Offensive Lineman next season. Hopefully, our great new GM can grab us up a couple of studs. Also some Tight ends. I wonder if Olsen would come back???

Not w/Lovie and Co. here. I don't see him wanting anything to do w/the current coaches.

Well, if we had people in place that could find/develop good o-line talent, then it would probably mean that those same persons would know their ass from a hole in the ground when it came to defensive players. So figure no Briggs, no D-line, probably some others wouldn't be here as well.... We would have a team that looks rather different. Maybe like the Lions.....
