Goodell will probably not be happy until the players play against each other electronically. Just equip the players with safe game consoles. Maybe pad the edges a bit with foam rubber. The only thing to decide is which one is safer for the players, Xbox or Playstation.

To all my good friends and brothers who love the game of Football.
Goddell has lost his F'king Mind.
The Opening Kick Off is "The start of the Game.
This is Tradition as Mom, Apple Pie, and a Saturday Night Date.
I urge you all to create a Petition of Revolt and send it to the team Owner and President.
This Game and the NFL was built by the paying fans.
Goddell has absolutely No Right to make this drastic change to the game.
Do Not Allow this to happen.
Regards from Atlanta

Crazy, kickoffs are exciting. A game without them would be stupid.

You're right Xaos. Too dangerous. That's got to go. We can replace it with a nasty stare or even better a nice hug.

Retarded . It would leave a huge hole in the game . Fans love kickoffs . I'd be disgusted forever and it would never seem the same .

Hello everyone and welcome to the season opener for sarcastaball. Tonight we'll see two teams play very passive and very gently, it's the Chicago Kittens vs the Green Bay Babies. And at the seats we can see the man that started the NSF Rogder Badell.
Seriously no. Kick off are great I think the last years change was a really good thing as it certainly have decreased concussions etc etc but to remove it? No thanks.

You still have opening kickoffs, and a kickoff at the 1/2. Its just after a TD that you would not have a kickoff; instead it would be a 4th and 15 at I think the 40, and they could choose to go for it, or punt.
injuries on kickoffs are down 40% since they made changes. Sorry you don't like that, but when your former employees are suing you b/c of the dangerous game, you have to do 2 things:
1) show you are making changes and show concern(he's doing that) and this has 2 effects)
a) the NFL does care about the safety of it's players
b) it prevents another lawsuit down the road for the players currently/in the future playing.
2) actually have less injuries, showing that the changes are working.
Anyone really think all these would be up for discussion if the NFL wasn't being sued w/the risk of losing billions?
Ya stupid, crazy Goodell is ruining the game, but his hand was forced w/the lawsuit.
As for his right to make drastic changes, should we go back to leather helmets, no face masks, a dropped forward pass being a turnover? Should all the games be played outside on real grass? Should we cut teams down to the original number; and pull the games back to the origianal amount? This idea that somehow this is the same game it was, even 20 years ago is absurd; and that is not all on Goodell.

Just gotta stop your culture of suying everything that is possible..
No we should not go back to leather helmets etc. etc. and if they develop a new helmet that improves the safety of the players they should use it. But they have already changed the kick off rule, I just disagree to remove it completely. I find it hard to express myself but I mean they have crossed a line from where I can accepta rule change to improve players safety and then to this is bulls*** let's start wrap them in bubbleplast nexttime.

I disagree w/the idea all together, but if they are, I hope they adopt something like this instead. I would put the ball at the 40, not the 30, I would also have kickoffs on the opening drive and half time(nothing is mentioned outside of after a TD, so that is very vague).
I also understand why the league is doing what it is doing, they are in a major lawsuit w/the retired players and want to show they are trying to make the game safer, AND actually showing improvements to prevent future lawsuits. Hard to blame the guy in charge of protecting the league w/making changes when they are being sued by ex employees b/c they never tried to make changes.
