We're 4 players away from a decent line .

He's worth a look as long as the injury is truly fixable . If it's gonna be chronic then forget about him , he'll be in and out of the lineup and very likely a shell of his former self . Get guys who are healthy and who have some upside - even average would be better than what we have right now cuz every player on our oline isn't even avg .
I'm the opposite, Cutler is the best QB we have had in a generation, we have the RB and we have a decent WR corps when healthy (Marshall is excellent, I have high hopes for Jeffrey) the whole thing is just continuously undermined by the line. When we face any decent team its the same story, the line gets trounced and all best laid plans go to sht because they are irrelevent when we cant give Cutler more than a few fleeting seconds before his latest brush with a 300 pound charging defender. Cutler just wont last with the punsihment he is getting. we are wasting a golden opportunity of a QB wortha damn because we cant get the line right. better line=better run game = better Cutty = better offence = less gassed D = Bears win
I'd go hell for leather with the line in FA and the draft and hope the D can last another year. If we can pick up a good LB further down the draft then fine, and Rodriguez is meant to be the answer at TE, so thats our two biggest non-O line issues sorted
all i want for Christmas is a whole new O-line. lets make it happen this off-season.
Sebastian Vollmer
TE Pitta
We have major OL issues no doubt but 4 new starters in one offseason is never going to happen.
Carimi is going to have to get his head out of his ass and play solid RT next year. I'm giving him a pass for sucking this year because he was a rookie and coming off an offseason marred by major surgery and rehab. No excuses next-play like a 1st rounder.
Louis was a damn good RG before his ACL. Man, I hope he comes back strong, we need him. He is young so that bodes well from being able to bounce back next year from ACL surgery. Plenty of players do.
Garza is decent at OC and he used to play OG well before last year. He's aging tough. Wherever he plays, he needs replacement. He's got one, max 2, years left I would guess.
LT will have to be fixed via FA, there's other way.
We have nothing at LG right now. Nothing. EWill is a stopgap only, not a long term starting solution IMO. Either we draft one, JBrown becomes the man, or we slide Garza over there if we draft an OC.
What I see as realistically possible this offseason, is obtaining 2'new starters. One (LT) via free agency and one (interior) via a 1st or 2nd round pick. Webb and maybe Scott can compete for the swing OT position. JBrown can hopefully step up to be a reserve OG (yes, G not Tackle). Maybe EWill sticks as a backup OG/OC. It's pretty damn thin right now.
Well... It's a triceps injury... its not like he blew out his knee. But yeah, obviously if he's not going to be ready to play immediately by next year (I can't imagine that being the scenario) I wouldn't even bother. A relatively minor season ending injury in a contract year like this might be just what the doc ordered for keeping his price tag down.
