Motown, I don't think they've fixed anything yet on this oline. Louis seems like a starter quality guy. Garza is marginal I guess. The others are probably good backups (maybe Carimi can be a starter-quality guy someday). I expect Emery to focus his attention this off season on the oline, and I think he's the guy who can and will do it right. It will take FA and the draft. You can't do it with one or the other. He'll need to do both.

Emery still has my confidence. He deserves more than one off-season to fix the Jerry Angelo mess IMHO.

p.s. We do need to get the passing game upgraded to the point that Cutler has 4 wr guys on the roster who can catch a football. B.Marsh, Alshon, Bennett & a new guy & a TE who can catch too. Then Cutler is set. The new WR can be a young or older FA. He doesn't have to be great. Just a guy who can catch a football and run solid routes. He doesn't even need to be a tall or fast guy. Just a #4 that is "money in the bank" when Cutler fires that ball to him. Maybe we already have this guy on our practice squad. If not, then there's always one of these guys in FA. Even if it's an older guy, if he can catch, then I'm all for signing him (even if he's a cancer, sign him if he can catch a football).

99 -- Lovie is not totally incompetent. He knows when to do a tonsillectomy vs an amputation of the leg. The problem is that he does the tonsillectomy by going in through the leg. He hasn't figured out the best way get to the tonsils. So he brings in experts. Some are tonsil experts, but have not done the operation for many years and the procedure they use is difficult and the patient cant eat for weeks and in general is not very efficient. The others he brings in don't know tonsils from kneecaps. But all these experts are his friends and he has great faith in them.

The problem is he can't do it and relies on others. The guys he relies on are not good either.

So we don't stink enough to get top draft picks and we aren't good enough to get to the playoffs. We are stalled in football mediocrity. Even when we bring in top notch nurses named Marshall that are known to be the best at what they do, we can't get those tonsils out right.

well its hard for me to trust someone like emery who peddled the bullshit line we have tice so we have no OL issues which lead to no talent added

im just an asshole I cant give benefit of the doubt lol

to me I would take your approach we need to fix the oline with legit talent. IDK if we could count on Louis now but a G and T should be added to the mix. And Im not talking picking up a Rachal or Spencer or insert bum name here. Wish we got Grubbs or Nicks this year could have really helped us.

I guess my point was many people found it acceptable that firing Tice was enough for the oline. Guess that wont work next season but if they take that same arrogant approach this team is going no where

I didn't get that at all. Maybe I'm just hoping your take on it is wrong.

I'd agree w/that but I believe Emery has to play the game, and by that he knows he has to give Lovie and crew what they wanted as misguided as it is. Plus he knows Lovie is entrenched and liked by ownership. If Emery is to have a long career as GM himself he has to be a bit of a political animal imo. He just can't dump the guy w/o the whole thing playing out. Which is also why we won't see anyone dumped mid-season.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

Thats probably true. I do believe that Lovie & Co. are gone in January barring a miracle 3-0 finish. Lets be real, that's not going to happen.

    1. Yes the dropped passes are killing us, but not having our three best WRs on the field for even one of those games is also killing us. We need BM, AJ and EB on the field for the rest of the season.

    2. Can't disagree with facts, these guys are the worst.

    3. Hester never was a good WR, and now he isn't ever a good return guy.

    4. If the running blocking isn't there and neither are the holes, can someone tell me why we keep trying to running the same damn running plays up the middle, is it to keep puting our Offense in the hole so we have to pass. Maybe Forte ankle is hurting him and he can't make the cuts, if so try running to the outside or how about just pitching him the ball.

    5. Once again this falls on Tice more then anyone. The play calling if thats what you want to call it sucks. If we keep running the ball up the middle on first down for little or nothing, all its doing is putting our offense in the hole and making the other teams DC look great. Cutler has one WR and no TEs to pass to, maybe now that AJ is back and can get his hands back into the game it will help. Hell if I am the other teams DC I use my best two guys to cover Marshall, if I take him out then I have nothing to worry about, because the other WRs or TE will either drop the pass or cause an INT.

    3. I don't want to hear anymore about how Hester is a "good 4th WR" because the man has hurt our team this year. Hands of stone.

    4. The run blocking is hurting us too. Forte is forced to try and make something our of nothing. The holes just are not there.

    5. Our defense held the Vikes to 7 points (the offense gave up 14 with the pick-six and another interception that was brought back to the Bears' 5 yard line)

If an offense can't score more than 14 points (and it gives away 14 points) it's a killer.
