I'm all for letting Tice go, and Lovie too; but I'm not sure why you have so much faith in Bates; he can hardly d worse, but I'm not convinced he can do better; he did nothing in Sea. I want the whole staff cleared out. Let Emery bring in his guy; and let that guy bring in his staff.

I sooooo agree with this. We can do better. We should strive to do better.
Why are Bears fans so eager to "settle" all the time? Why not reach for excellence. At least we should TRY to do better. But we always want to settle for mediocre coaches and players, and then we get angry when we have mediocre seasons. What the heck DO folks expect?
MEDIOCRE COACHES + MEDIOCRE PLAYERS = MEDIOCRE SEASONS
It's like a "Law of Nature" like gravity. It's just a truth. MC + MP = MS. And we've had way to much MS around here over the past 50 years or so.

Absolutely. No more hiring the chef and telling him he needs to make an award winning restaurant, but has to keep the old recipes. Doesn't work. No one should be protected. Do what you have to do and FIX IT!

Exactly.
Telling the chef to make chicken salad out of chicken crap - and then wondering why the finished product stinks.

I've only been watching for about 35 years, but there is a problem with your equation. It's linear. I think it should be more like one of these:
MC + MP = MS2
Or
Mediocre Owners + MC + MP = MS3
and the resulting direct corollary: MS3 = Disgruntled FansN
Emery can't do much with the owners, maybe through his attitude and approach he can get them to see things in a better light, but he can certainly address the coaches and players. The entire Offensive staff needs to go. As well as Lovie Dovie. Marinelli can stay as DC, and Toub can stay, but only as ST. I don't think he's ready for HC. But I wouldn't put any restrictions on the new HC - they can both go if we get the right HC and he has better people.

Once again Ric you need to drop this Bates in Seattle stuff. He and Carroll had a disagreement over the style of offense to run but right now Seattle is running what Bates devised and scoring points with it. Bates offense requires mobility from the QB and guys like Cutler and RW have that. Hasselback did not but that' who Carroll wanted to play. Bates didn't.
If you're gonna keep bringing up Seattle then at least be fair and balanced about it and bring up what Bates was able to do here in Denver with a cooperative HC and two of our offensive stars. He ran the 3rd highest ranked offense in the NFL with them when they were far less experienced players than they are now.
That's the Jeremy Bates I see not the one you keep bringing up. Let's look at what he did with guys he has again not with guys he didn't. Let's not twist facts in a way that only benefits what you want to believe.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

And again, in Den it was Shanny who had set up that O, and Bates had his help. And Bates was also brought in to help Tice set up the Bears passing game. So Bates is, at least, partially, culpible for the debacle that is the Bears O.

Anyone can say whatever they want about a 7-6 Redskins team - but they have one thing we don't .... ENTHUSIASM . They may not have to best talent in the league , but their team is playing hard . Instinctively they know they're on to something , know they're building something . And you can see it in their faces , to a man . They're not gonna win the SB this year , but that's a hungry team on the upswing .
Here , everything just feels stale ... cuz it is stale . Does this look like a hungry team ? At one time they were but they aren't anymore . We need a new enthusiastic bright hungry coaching staff around here , like what the 9ers have with Harbaugh .
They're out there . Go get one .

I don't care how many coaches we cycle through. We can Boyd cycle/OODA the whole organization if you asked me. Enough of hiring the nice guy everyone is comfortable with and enough of the almost theres, the mitigating circumstances and the "oh just let him change assistants yet again".
Enough of that already. I'd rather have some seasons completely trainwreck, cycle through the bums faster, and stop dealing from the bottom tier of the draft wishing for a better piece. I'll take the chaos laden team with potential over conservative dad team any day of the week. Enough propagating the definition of insanity over and over again. He won't stop beating you honey-you have to call the police-he's not going to change nor finally "get it".
Oh and draft some god damn O linemen already.
