How do we get the next franchise QB?

If a qb is constanly inj'd/concussed at some point there is a diminishing return. We could fix the ol this offseason and you could still end up w/jc getting concussed a few times each year; fact. If the team is not looking at that as a distinct possibility then they are ignoring reality. it doesn't matter that it's not jc's fault, reality is be now has concussion issues and no matter how good the ol might get those arent going away.

As for his play vs gb, that has little to do w/the ol. Even when he has time he throws pics and having poor games in general.

Nor am i saying this is the correct path, but it is worth legitimate djscussion.

And again vet backups are not and never worth the price tag. Also you can get a solid prospect in the later rounds...wilson was a 4th?

Besides when gb had farve they would take qb's in the 1st and 2nd anyone here really think cutler is better then Farve? Taking a guy in the 4th isnt stopping the team from getting another starter and its gjving u a valuable backup.

^ This. I would also add that Cutler is a pretty mobile/pocket aware quarterback, so its not like replacing him with someone who is mobile is going to fix the problem. If Cutler can't play behind it, I doubt that any quarterback could (I'm not saying Cutler is great, but his skill set gives him the ability to play behind it better than others).

So you draft another quarterback instead of drafting an offensive lineman? This makes no sense whatsoever. Also, what gives you ANY hope that the Bears can draft a quarterback? Which draft pick was it that you can say that the Bears have an ability to draft a quarterback?

So you would advocate the Packers getting rid of Rodgers? Rodgers has been concussed almost as much if not the exact same amount of time as Jay Cutler, but playing behind a better line. So by that logic Rodgers should have been gone because he was protected better but was still getting concussed.

Regarding our player personnel, it is so simple. It really isn't rocket science. It's as simple as ABC:

A. Just put a solid offensive line in place.

B. Keep our QB.

C. Then focus on upgrading the positions that need upgrading.



p.s. Our coaching woes are a valid issue too. I'm just commenting on our player woes.

Im not saying get rid of cutler. Not once have i said to get rid of him. Ive not said dont resign him.

Ive said you start looking at guys that can back him up via youth and the draft b/c between his injuries and his inability to play well vs gb it is a legit discussion if he is the long term answer, and no vet backup is ever going to be that answer.

Aaron has missed 1 game each of the last two seasonsseasons, and none this year amd missed none the two years prior.

Jay has missed 7 in the last 3 years. He's also not 1/2 the qb rodgers is. And thats not a knock on cutler, most qbs arent.

So backup qb isnt a needed upgrade, we dont need depth there?

It's disingenuous to claim he has horrible concussion problems, show games missed as justification, and then lump 6 games missed with a broken thumb into his missed games total. If you think he has a fragile thumb which is likely to rebreak or think that his concussion problems lead to his thumb injury, please explain. He has had TWO concussions in the last three seasons. If you remember the play that concussed him this year, it was a borderline cheap shot where the guy threw his helmet into Jay's chin. He didn't trip tying his shoe and get concussed. That was a dangeruous hit which has a really good chance of concussing any QB. Put a 22 year-old rookie on the receiving end of a flying helmet to the chin and he is likely going to be missing some time, too.

You do realise that Rodgers has been sacked more and hit about the same amount...right? Not sure how that qualifies as "protected better"...

Yeah, and greenbay has oline (injury) issues and possbile draft busts too. Not the meltdown that the bears have had, but the point is that Rogers isn't doing better due to protection. It's play design and the fact that he's a stud qb.
