The FA LT is vital. No excuse for whiffing here a la JA if the opportunity presents itself. This is a MUST for Emery, #1 FA priority by far.

I'd love to draft Barrett Jones in late round 1. He'd be our stud OC for the next decade and can play OG well too.
me and my brother were talking about this the other day and would like to see a LT in FA and if we are lucky can get Barret Jones. Then as a one year band aid Garza can move to RG and we have rest of this year to see if James Brown is someone who can be that LG before the need to splurge on that position also

No damn it! They need arms to push the defenders towards Rodgers faster!

And I'm quite confident that Emery will do that adequately, in other words, better than JA's genius choices of Caleb Hanie & Todd Collins.

Look, Cutler has been utterly screwed since arriving here by a revolving door of suckass shitbag OCs, OLs, and WRs (pre-Emery). The latter issue has been greatly remedied (still a need a decent TE than can actually catch & a speedy slot guy to develop as a #4 WR) but the first 2 problems haven't yet. Emery needs to focus on those first and keeping the defense stocked second the next 2 offseasons. Finding a new starting QB is about 22nd on the grocery list for the immediate future.
Utterly correct . The question is or might become - will Cutty even want to stick around ? Only way he should is they make it clear to him they are gonna quit jacking off on the O-line .

There is a little truth to this. The Packers do not play max protect anywhere near the amount that Bears do. I would say the Bears max protect line protects as well as the current Green Bay line does without max protect.

I had that exact same concern, Alf, until he recently said he wanted to stay and talked about the "hometown discount" that pissed off his greedy agent. All I can figure is that he loves playing with Marshall and has faith in Emery (that he didn't in Angelo) to right the ship offensively. He expressed a great deal of confidence in Emery this week on his radio show and it did seem genuine to me, not just platitudes.

I was relieved to hear all that becaus, if it was me, I'd be tempted to tell the Bears to **** off after waiting years to get me an actual NFL wide receiver and nearly ending my career several times behind the worst OL in the league 3 seasons running.

Hopefully he get's assurances that this IS going to happen . Then he'll probably want to stick around . That and a new O-minded HC . Otherwise he might still be hesitant - I know I would be .

I just want to see some real enthusiasm around here again . And not the pseudo-kind you get with a tuckered out old re-tread HC . REAL friggin enthusiasm from a confident ( even cocky ) energetic young guy who also knows what he's doing .

I am still curious as to what his idea of a discount is..... a million less a year? Still going to break the bank, and I doubt his contract will look much like he gave a discount at all

Ever, I do know that AR has been sacked as much or more than Cutler the last several years. It's hard to believe when you think about it. Of course, Bears backup QBs (Collins, Hanie, McCown, Campbell) have easily absorbed another 20+ sacks over that time that Cutler missed out on because...well, he's been concussed several times, broke his thumb, and had his MCL strained. If he had played as many games, I'm sure Jays sack total would be higher and yes those injuries are attributable to a combination of shitbag OLs and WRs.

As good as Rodgers is, and he clearly is among the NFL elites, I do believe he would have struggled pretty badly with the motley surrounding cast Cutler has had to deal with.

    OCs: Mad Martz, Meathead Tice
LTs: Webb, Omiyale, Pace, Chris Williams
WRs: Aromashadu, Knox, Roy Williams, Hester, Rashied Davis

Pathetic GM/HC legacy on offense there.

Ok this Rodgers gets sacked more stuff is kinda garbage . Maybe 'statistically' he's bout equal , but his are mostly coverage sacks not jailbreak sacks like what Cutler has to put up with . Rodgers actually has the time to scan the field , and his sacks come when he scrambles . So his initial protection is better . Often . I've watched too many Packers games , to not be able to see that this is what is actually the truth . They're on in this market often even when they're not playing the Bears.

Alf, it's not garbage at all statistically the most sacks in the league are AR, Big Ben, then Cutler. Doesn't matter if it's coverage or jailbreak or whatever, it's the # of hits he is taken, just b/c one is a coverage and the other is a jailbreak doesn't mean one is getting hit harder. A coverage sack can be just as devastating as a jailbreak.
