Lovie Smith: 8-5 Chicago Bears are in 'great shape'
NFL.com story.
Lovie is smarter than we think. Lovie (sly dog) is using the old Muhammad Ali rope-a-dope trick. Let 'em think you're losing & come out a winner.
Tice is probably the mastermind behind all of this. He'll probably debut the fabled "Hester Package" Sunday. I can't wait to finally see it in action.
LINK to the article Lovie Smith: 8-5 Chicago Bears are in 'great shape' Coach Lovie Smith hears the whispers about his 8-5 Chicago Bears.
After dropping four of their last five games, the team's once-healthy grip on the NFC North lead has vanished. The Bears are banged-up, and their best football was played months ago, but Lovie doesn't see it that way.
"A lot of teams would like to be in the position we're in right now, believe me ... in the playoffs right now, and all you have to do is win three football games," Smith told the Chicago Tribune. "Most guys would take that.
"So again, don't feel sorry for the Chicago Bears. We're in great shape. No, we're not going to get rid of any coaches and we're going to try to keep as many of our players as we possibly can and we're going to win some football games."
Winning one on Sunday would help. That's when the Green Bay Packers come to town for a game that will go a long way toward deciding the fate of a division that, just weeks ago, was in the Bears' control.
Sunday's when we'll discover what this Bears team is all about.

I can't wait to see the offensive "explosion" we are going to see on Sunday. Here are some of the classic elements:
Forte off tackle, TFL'd for -2 on a missed block from Kellen Davis.
A false start.
Forte off tackle again, gain of 2.
15 first down completion to Marshall, called back on a holding call against Webb.
Middle slant to Hester, dropped of course.
4th & 25....punt

Well, I know people that are in "great shape" for being in their 80's. We are in great shape for being an average team. Or a better-than-average underachieving team. Take your pick.
Big of him to say that when we finally have a softer schedule coming. I don't see them winning this weekend, but he might make it 2 out of three. Then he can crow about that while he forgets about the string of losses or the postseason miss.
Again.

I read the title of the article. My first thought was, "I call Bullshit."
As an aside to MPB, I think you have the right of it. Lovie and Tice most likely have their prefixes mixed up, and are substituting explode for implode.....
"Professional Armchair Quarterback" and other oxymora.....

I didn't put it on here, but i thought the bears were in a better position to beat the pack than the vikes, only because this D is significantly better at playing the pass, than the run, and the packer's d is weaker than the vikes. Hopefully 49.5 CHI - 49 Pack victory

I think you guys would best be served by losing to GB. I know it would just about wash out your season, but it's the only way your gonna get rid of Lovie Smith.
If you win, you'll have accomplished at least one of the goals, and it will be just enough to keep him around. He needs flushed.

All the comparisons to the '85 Bears in the media earlier in the year has Lovie confused.
Hey Lovie - 8-5 is NOT the same as '85.

I'll pray for a blizzard. Maybe if Davis can't see the ball he'll catch it or Jay can bouce it off the back of his helmet and the o-line can catch it-not like they're busy or anything.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

SFB -- Davis Can't see the ball already. Maybe if he got a a face guard with the bars further apart Jay could throw it on a rope to his facemask and it can stick there until he can find his hands.
