    Sources: Earl Bennett still out

This hurts. We really could have used him against the Packers.

    Sources: Earl Bennett still out

The Chicago Bears ruled out wide receiver Earl Bennett for at least another week as he recovers from a concussion, sources familiar with the situation said Thursday.Bennett, who did not practice Thursday, is expected to be re-evaluated next week and could return for the Bears' road game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Bennett was inactive for the Bears' game Sunday in Minnesota after he suffered a concussion in the first half of the team's overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 2. The precise moment Bennett sustained his concussion is unknown, but he absorbed at least two shots to the head before he left the game.

Injuries have limited Bennett to just 23 receptions for 250 yards and one touchdown on the season, but the veteran is still one of the club's most reliable targets in the passing game. Bennett has 14 catches for 163 yards in six regular season games versus the Green Bay Packers, but made three receptions for 45 yards and one touchdown in the NFC Championship game two years ago.

Cornerback Tim Jennings (shoulder) and linebacker Brian Urlacher (hamstring) also missed practice, but Urlacher's absence doesn't come as a surprise because he's expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. Back-up running back Michael Bush (ribs) sat out of Thursday's session along with rookie defensive end Shea McClellin (knee) and defensive tackle Henry Melton, who was excused from the workout for personal reasons, according to coach Lovie Smith.

"We have a lot of other players, about five or six that were injured today that were able to do a small amount," Smith said.

That group of limited participants included linebacker Lance Briggs (knee/hip), quarterback Jay Cutler (neck/knee), tight end Kellen Davis (knee), linebacker Geno Hayes (knee), offensive tackle Jonathan Scott (shoulder) and defensive tackle Matt Toeaina (knee).

The Bears listed defensive tackle Stephen Paea (foot), guard Chris Spencer (knee) and cornerback Charles Tillman (shoulder) as participating fully in Thursday's practice.

The Packers held out receiver Jordy Nelson (hamstring) on Thursday along with running backJames Starks (knee) and defensive end C.J. Wilson (knee). Receiver Donald Driver (thumb) participated in a limited capacity, as did linebackers Terrell Manning (shoulder) and Clay Matthews (hamstring), offensive lineman T.J. Lang (ankle), safety Jerron McMillian (back) and defensive end Mike Neal (shoulder).

Green Bay cornerback Davon House (illness) participated fully Thursday along with offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse (wrist).

All the signs are there for a blowout, but enough time to recover and go 10-6. Yippee

I'll again say this, if the team was smart they would put Forte out there at WR and Run Bush/Allen when Forte isn't at RB.

Please, please, please! Do not target Davis/Hester 10+ times again, we do that and it's a 0% chance of beating the Pack. 4 targets for each, 5 tops.

Or, use Forte like they did last year, and throw to him. Or is that below Cutler now that he has Marshall to target?

Cutler wants to throw to WR's and thats fine, but he needs to target his weapons in general, and Forte is defanately one of them.

670 had a stat(and I don't remember the #'s so forgive me) but it was basically when Forte got 30 plus touches the teams win % was very high, and when Cutler through more then 40 it's was really low.

Gotta feed the ball to Forte, that lubes everything else up to get going.

Forte has great hands, and he's a great weapon receiving. I just think our entire offense is screwed up this year. Having Tice as OC was a mistake.
