I blame Jerry Angelo now, but next year I blame Emery.
I give Emery a "pass" for failing to fix the offensive line this season. It looks like this failure was a major factor that ruined our 2012 season. But he's new, and I give him a pass this first year.
If he doesn't put a rock solid offensive line in place for 2013 - along with a "real" coach who can have them playing to their full potential - then I'm all for showing Emery the door, just like they did JA.
I am so angry over how the Bears have blown off the offensive line woes these past years, that it' eating my guts, I'm so angry.

Ever think of blaming ownership if Emery actually does fail to meet the glaring OL need? If that happens then you know how tied the GM's hands really could be.

Yeah, but why would they care at the ownership level about offensive linemen? I could see if it was a glitzy position like QB. But the entire planet earth now knows our oline is hurting our franchise (even the national sports media comments on the Bears oline issues now).
Ownership has made mistakes, but I just don't see them at fault in THIS case.

The only blame I have over Emery right now was picking Shea instead of Chandler Jones or Whitney Mercilus which I was certain that we'd pick. Ofcause he didn't knew that they would turn out as they did but still I "blame" him.
I don't blame him for the Oline unless he was told by the coaching staff to fix it but if they said hey we got this Oline don't worry about it I don't blame him.
But we'll see what he'll do in this offseason. I'm looking more forward to the draft/FA than the playoff right now.

I won't blame Emery for another 5 years. It will take that long to dig out of the angler's mess and evaluate the next couple drafts. Emery gets a pass on this year's draft due to the extreme needs we had, being short a couple picks and the short time he had to come in and evaluate the existing crew. Although I think he did a good job with AJ. Kid's got a future here.
Now that's not to say I'm not as disgusted as you or any other Bears fan about the state of our O-line, because I am. After 35+ years of watching the bears, and 40+ watching the Cubs and Blackhawks, I'm as disgusted as anybody with the state of our sports teams. Frankly, it's embarrasing to see the peckers beat up on us for 12 years with Farve and 2 years now with Rodgers and for how many more? They have 13 championships and we have 9? Not to mention they are now within 6 games all-time series. GSH started the league, we should be the premiere team, not some cruddy cheese packers from a chincey little paper mill town.
Excuse me while I go be sick.

I think blame goes all around. To start off: injuries. Yeah, the pack lost 52 of 53 when they went to the sb, but who is it we've had get injured? Jay Cutler and Brian Urlacher. If you are gonna build the O and D around them, don't be surprised if their absence causes a significant dropoff. Angelo: this guy has created some amazingly talented teams, but if he did it with fewer WTF? selections, we certainly would've won by now. Emery: still say Reiff over mcclellan, but not too angry about it. Amazing how his first 3 picks are injury prone this year. No disagreement that if he at least doesn't get us 1-2 new starters and real depth, he's gonna find his way in the doghouse. Lovie: getting better as a coach, finding out what hasn't and isn't working. Totally believe he can give us another amazing year with real talent surrounding Cutler (not just the o-line). Tice: rookie oc, so i don't hate him like many here, but if he is around next year, he better learn from this year's mistakes. Rex Grossman: dude, i don't care if you can see into the future, Kelvin Hayden was a colt in 2006.

Well if I were a betting man I'd say they care about Hester being a starter at wr with that whole experiment. I'm sure they have some element of what they would like to see or spend money on depending on the degree of influence that could determine what the GM does. Let's see what they do with Lovie after the season.

On the first item, I agree. Thus far it looks as though Chandler Jones would have been the better DE pick. Still too early for a fair evaluation but a valid point based on this year alone.
The OL is a whole different story and how quickly we forget the situation as it was THEN. The OL was BETTER last year, especially at run blocking, than this this years version. And 2 starters were out hurt at the end and expected to return as "upgrades". Carimi was returning to man RT--no one knew or predicted he would struggle as much as he had recovering from that surgery. Louis was moving back his natural position at RG--and did so well as expected until recently hurt. Garza was a pro bowl alternate and was returning at Center. And CWilliams was returning from injury at LG (we thought) where he had played fairly well. Spencer, who had been decent at RG, and EWill, who had been likewise at LG, were returning for depth. The only major "hole" was Webb at LT.
There was NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH Emery could have done about that last offseason. There were NO FAs worth considering and the only draftee who could have immediately upgraded the position was Kalil who was picked 4th overall. You might say Emery should have drafted DeCastro instead in the 1st, but he is purely a LG and that didn't seem nearly as big a need as pass rush help was (remember we didn't know Izzy, Melton, and Wooten would all be playing as we'll as they have this year).
What happened? Well, Mike Tice starting fucking up as soon as TC opened. He took CWill's LG job away from him and refused to give it back after Webb won the starting LT job (largely be default). Instead, he moved Spencer to the left side where he was far less effective. He finally had to admit error by benching him for Rachal. Then he jacked that up too by benching Rachal after a disastrous OL game in which the TACKLES were clearly a much bigger weakness than the LG was. Rachal lost his shit and got canned from the team leaving nobody but EWill to play LG. Carimi struggled surprisingly too and was replaced. Then Louis and Spencer got hurt, the latter being little loss but the former being a major one. So....besides Garza, the only other OLman we have left playing his proper position from the opening day lineup is......Webb. Yeah, the same guy who Tice had mis-touted for years and was considered the "weakest-link" from the very beginning!
That's pretty jacked up, folks. So if your looking to lay blame, put it where it belongs:
Tice (+ Lovie by extension as his boss/mentor) AND Angelo for mismanaging and mis-acquiring respectively the OL personnel we are left with now. There's where the blame belongs.
