RT's offenses just seemed predictable, but I think, in retrospect, he got more out the available talent than Martz or Tice. Mike2 have either A) the best QB ever to wear a Bear uni in the SB era, and/or B) the best WR ever to play for the team during the same period, and have produced worst offenses.

    Frustrating.

You're right, he was SO predictable calling plays. He was one of the worst play callers I can remember. I thought he was even worse than Tice. And THAT's bad.

WHERE DO THE BEARS FIND THESE LOSERS? You almost gave to try to find such bad offensive coordinators. Of course Ron (his most recent tenure here) was scraped up by the Bears after he failed in the college ranks as coach. He killed Illinois, and was fired. And of course WE hired him after his failed college coaching. The Bears figured he could win here, even though he couldn't cut it at the college level.

    Amazing. Amazingly stupid.

Smith should have been gone after last season for sure, but he will probably be around to torture Bear fans next year, too.

I think that they simply will not spend nearly 20 million to get rid of him

We have 2 games against teams that will not make the playoffs, and we just might sneek in with 10 wins.

He will still be around next year and hope that we can get an offensive line, through FA and Draft.

Crap, i'm already looking forward to next year.

Let's wait it out, no use in firing him this second. Tice hasn't been all that bad, it's too bad he was given this situation. He did everything he possibly could to succeed, got Bates, Marshall, Jeffery, Bush, Cutler, and it just all never seemed to fall into place, first time play caller in a make or break season. If we do get a new HC, he will be inheriting a very talented team for sure that is in need of continuity and a fresh voice.

That's usually done in the offseason. I don't think I would read much into that one way or another.

Edit: The article also says that Lovie won't be fired. That is going to be difficult to find another OC. I'm starting to think Bates may be it -- assuming Lovie isn't stupid enough to keep Tice in hte position.

With current events, I can't see how Lovie can pass the buck anymore.

That said......when it came to this season, he couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag.

This team has a major rebuilding project ahead of it and some lean years are ahead.

Thank-you Lovie Smith, the effort was there, the results were not. Best Of luck.

    Major Rebuilding? You think?

You have a franchise QB, Cutler(30), a top RB, Forte(27), with a good backup,Bush(28), a top WR, Marshall(28), another developing WR, Jeffery(22), a solid slot guy in Bennett(25). Outside of Cutler are all signed through 2014. Webb(24) seems to have shown enough that he is a capable LT in the NFL. Louis(27), is a starter.

    On D you have Wootten(25), Paea(24), McClellin(23), Melton(26), Collins(25) he's flashed, Wright(24), Conte(23).

So do we really have a major rebuilding process?
Obviously we have older guys like Briggs, Lach, Peppers, Tillman, Garza, etc.

There are quite a few pieces here, we still need help but I don't think we need to start over.

QFT. I don't even think Tice has had that "coming to Jesus" meeting like Martz had. If Lovie evolved as a coach he would remove Tice and his clipboard and at least attempt to call some plays himself or shoulder the burden.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
