The players like him because there's not much accountability when it comes to being good enough to beat the good teams . Kind of an ... " at least we're an above average team " mindset . And they know it's tolerated , and no one's gonna be holding anyone's feet to the fire demanding more effort and more execution out of them . It's just ' a little easier ' when grandpa Lovie is your HC .
THEY'RE ALL , TOO COMFORTABLE WITH EACH OTHER .
Want hungry fb players ? Get an edgier more demanding HC .

We fans should keep in mind that we are fans. What we think we know about football is not even a drop in the bucket to someone that has reached the NFL level. It would be like a 6 year old coming to our job and telling us how to do it.

How pathetic ARE we as a team when we look back in admiration of the rotten Ron Turner years?
Pathetic.
Bravo! Kudos to you 99.
How dare anybody look back on the offenses of Ron Turner and be wistful for the old days? That a f'n joke right. The best a Ron Turner offense could do was to be 17th ranked out of 32 teams and you guys think that's a positive.
The Bears offense has been a sick, moribund mess for over 20 years. It's just taken this long for it to hit rock fuckin' bottom and it's done it with some of the best talent and depth at skill positions that I've seen in over 40 years of watching this team.
Pathetic is right. All you can applaud is that Ron Turner's offense was LESS pathetic than this one with less talent. If we were to handicap the difference based on how much more talent Tice had than Turner ever had Tice's offense should rank about 50th. And make no mistake about it this is Mike Tice's offense all of it.
It's not Lovie Smith's because Lovie only knows how to defend, not attack. And it sure as hell isn't Jeremy Bates either because I watched his offense in Denver where Cutler had TEs to throw to, a dependable #2 named Royal not Hester, and he wasn't standing in the pocket getting sacked 5 and 6 times a game because he had protection and planned roll outs to work off of. The only mark of Jeremy Bates on this offense that I could find was another All Pro year out of Brandon Marshall and that's it!!!!!
No this was Mike Tice's offense lock stock and barrel. How could you guys miss the "explosiveness" of it all and who but Mike Tice could have come up with that ultra effective "Hester Package" of his. Sheer genius I tell you. The man is so talented and his game plans and offensive play calling were so deceptive that even his own team couldn't figure it all out. Let's give him another chance shall we? Maybe by the end of next season they'll have all figured it out or at the very least his line will have figured out who they were supposed to block.
I though Mike Martz was an ass clown. Tice seems to have stolen his face paint, big red nose and the daisy that squirts water too. Pathetic is actually too kind a word for it.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

It's time for some new blood in Chicago. Even tho I like Lovie Smith as a coach and I'd like to see him as DC but I doubt it. Imo we need a HC that knows the importen of both offense and defense. I have the impression that Lovie pretty much ignored the offense and when you leave the offense to a OC who isn't the greatest then offense is going to get screwed.
If we can't have a top coach as HC then I'd like a medicore HC, great DC and great OC I think that could work well.
We need to rebuild this hole team before we can call ourself real superbowl contenders. This year we were hyped atleast I was and it looked great in the start despite our offense sucking, but then it went wrong. I can't belive I didn't see this before yesterday but when the D doesn't force turnovers and scores then we can't win. It's a pain to say it but true.
The season is pretty much over and I kinda hope we'll lose the next two games. Get ourself a lower draft pick and we hopefully get fresh blood around the coaching staff.
The only concern about a new coaching staff is that it might screw up the players. Gotta learn a hole new scheme that worries me a bit. If I'm not mistaken Alex Smith had a new OC every year and last year I think it was, was the first time he had the same OC in two season, I think that says a lot.

With Lovie this offseason it's pretty simple
It's either fired or extended. We won't go into the season with Smith as contractless coach at the end of the year. We had this same problem this year. We will not get a new or good OC with this situation. Either we get a new HC and this guys staff or we extend Lovie and he finally can get a OC without being on the hot seat. Now OC will come for 1 year knowing he could get fired 1 year later. That's the reason why we have to deal with Tice...

Soul, that completely denfied all fact of what happened in the offseason, but thanks for playing. Reality is they try to get the TE's involved, and they cannot b/c they aren't good enoughh, Royal is reliable? Tell that to every team he's been on since Cutler left, his stats the last few years are very Hester like. Reality is that no OC is going to be able to remake Denver when they don't have the OL that was put in place by Shanahan, not Bates.
The fact that you think the HC has no say in what happens on O is also ignoring history, remember in 2 years w/Martz Lovie had to sit him down and pull him back into a more run centric offense 4-7 games into the season, so Lovie does have say in what happens on O.
And Bates is a failure unless he has Shannahan, fact.
The Bears need to clean house of all staff and start from scratch w/a competent offensive minded HC that can bring in his OC to install the HC's O so when/if the OC is gone the O stays in place.

Lovie needs to go. Period. New GM new coaching staff new scheme and hopefully a new degree of sucess
And I agree in kind of hoping the bears loose out and end up with a top 20 pick (and not waste it this time) and the nail in lovies coffin
Hope someone's on the phone with cohwer and Gruden now (pipe dream yes, but we need something to be hopeful for)
I hope were talking mocks and coaching candidates on here in 2 weeks

It's the family mentality. They stick up for one another, and hide ineptitude. I like Brandon Marshall. He gets it. Unless every single one does their part, it's not good enough. I made this a couple years ago, but other than Martz, it still fits today.
