Wash on the other hand, is playing really well, and I'm not sure what their schedule is, but I bet it's hard to imagine them winning out.
The Packers don't even have a first round bye right now, much less one 'tied up'. The Falcons and Niners have the first round byes right now.

Here's an even better question. Why should we care?
If we win we have at best a very slim shot of making the playoffs and if we make the playoffs who could we possibly beat? Every other team is just that much better so it's one and done. Personally I don't enjoy watching the Bears get hosed by playoff caliber teams every week just to hammer home the point that they are and we're not!
The other issue is that it prolongs the season and the tough decisions that need to come swiftly and correctly just as soon after the final gun of the final game sounds. Will Lovie be back or not? If so who do we get to run the offense in 2013 because it sure as hell can't be Tice if Emery doesn't want to contribute his pic to a GM dart board like Angelo did.
If Lovie gets axed who are the potential candidates to replace him? That needs to be very established very quickly so that a new HC and staff can be hired and evaluations of the current roster can take place. Then and only then can Emery be given a shopping list to work from as far as FA and the draft. If Lovie stays then it's replace who on the coaching staff, do the same evaluations, then rinse and repeat.
Frankly I'm amazed that anyone would even want to see them in the playoffs. Do you guys like watching your kid get beat up by the rest of the kids on the block every day too? The playoffs are a complete waste this year. We aren't even close to having a championship caliber team right now.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I'm already looking to next year and while I don't want them tanking the games , a couple more losses would move us up a little higher on the draft board .

It's going to be another long long off-season :-(
Don't worry, I find the off-season a lot less boring/painfull with this board. :)
Altho I kinda look forward to the off-season. I was really excited to see what Emery would do in his first FA and I'm even more exicited this off-season knowing that he can pull such a deal off. It kinda gives me the hope that he lands atleast one stud offensivelinemen perhaps even two.
I think we'll beat Cards but lose to Lions and miss the playoff. The only bright side in missing the playoff is lower draftpick(Wouldn't have mattered with JA. Would have taken the worst player even if he got first pick.. ) and hopefully Lovie will be fired.

My guess is that we win out to two bad teams, because that's what we do; we beat bad teams. Then we get to the playoffs and lose badly to whomever we play, and Lovie and staff get an extension because "The Bears went 10-6 and made the playoffs, so obviously Lovie is great!"
Oh man, being a Bear/Cub fan has made me a pessimist.

Nah ... ur just stating a fact in how management evaluates things . They just don't look at how soft some of the wins are , and they always see things as " good enough " .
It's not good enough . And it won't be .. until the Bears are good enough to beat the other good teams straight up , and w/o depending on turnovers and ST .

Sadly, I think 4Da has it right. Even though I pegged this season at 10-6 and a wildcard, I will still feel let down if it happens, due to the way the Bears backed into the playoffs. Personally, I think the Bears won't make the playoffs, even if they do win out. I never has much in the way of playoff expectations due to a glaring weakness like the Bears O-Line getting brutally exploited in the playoffs.
Simply put, my expectations weren't as high, so my frustrations are not as great. I am still however underwhelmed by this late season performance.
ANY retention of Lovie has to come with the understanding that he will only be retained if there is continued improvement. (MAYBE a series of one year extensions?)

Uhhh, no. Lovie is done and must be shown the door. A series of one-year extensions will only prolong the misery by getting no-name inexperienced lackluster OCs because of Lovie's perennial lame duck status.
We are watching Clint Eastwood's movie "The Beguiled" here. Lovie is Clint Eastwood, and he's, uhhh, "had his way with" several OCs - the young girl (Tice), the young woman (Turner), the old school marm (Martz), and possibly even the Kitchen Help (Shea), while the young child (Emery) is getting ready to feed him the mushrooms. That is a meal I am looking forward to observing.

I hope "HenryBurris" does not read this thread...he will give you a "THUMBS-DOWN"...
Anywho, I find it hard to believe that people are even talking about the Bears in the play-offs. Should they make it, they are going to have their ASS handed to them on national TV AGAIN...!!! Come on people, this Bears team can NOT compete with winning teams...WAKE UP...!!!
