If Jobs (the face of the company) had come out and said that he didn't care about the writers that were writing about it nor the customers that were complaining about it, he would have had a faceful of ownership right away. Jobs or not .... You simply do not treat customers like that. Whether they are spoiled, unresonable, whatever... it doesn't matter. Being good businessmen, they admitted they had a problem and fixed it double time.
If they had just let it stay out there and come up with stories about how they knew the product might have issues and let it just fester out there without any fixes, it would have stopped selling.
We agree on most things, but IMO what you say here is simply wrong. It will drive any organization, whether a commercial establishment or a sports franchise into the ground. Just my opinion and most of the time I am flexible in changing positions, but not here.
big difference between a company and a team. You use the products and can decide to go to a different company for those products if you want. With the teams, fans have emotional attachments to the team and players (which is not shared). If the players piss you off by calling you out are you going to change fan bases? No, I doubt you will.

"Professional Armchair Quarterback" and other oxymora.....

1) What BU said was out of line; but from what I understand he recanted a bit and it was more a mistatement. But all the same, stupid comment coming from a guy that should know better, but doens't care to act on that knowledge. His comment about how only chicago fans boo at their own stadium is false, not a few weeks ago Minny was getting boo'd in Minny, and I know Det has been boo'd before also. What have GB fans had to boo in the last 10 years? a couple SB's? So of course they don't.
2) I have no doubt most players, all around the league, agree w/BU.
3) 2 SB apparences in the history of the Chicago Bears; 2 in the last 30 years, and after a really fast start(7-1) to now be 8-6, the fans have a right to be pissed about how poorly they've played. This is not about 1 game; this is about the comedy of errors that have been the chicago bears since the mid 90's. Brian, don't want your fans to boo you? Make sure your team shows up ready to play and doesn't crap the bed in big games that can either get you in, or take you out of the playoff hunt/div title race. Fans don't tend to boo 37-34 losses, but failing to score 20+ in the last 3 games, and only 1 in the last 6 is probably going to put fans on edge.
4) I don't boo, but then again I don't pay the stupid high prices to goto games. If I rocked a G just for the privilage to park, on top of the G's to get season passes and you gave me 1 SB appearnce ever 20 or so years, and only 1 one of them, I'd be apt to be on edge too after you fell apart yet again.

I am stunned and shocked! Briggs backing up Urlacher?

I just heard Briggs statement trying to defend Brian, and he basically said the same thing Urlacher did, so he's not helping.
We know this is how they feel, but we don't want to hear it. Like going to a restaurant, and I know my waitress probably can't stand being nice to grumpy customers for 8 hours, but don't show it when you come to the table. We understand. We get it, Brian, but keep it to yourself.

Well, I've said my piece on it. No point in taking it any further. We can go on forever.

Freedom of speech? I'm sure most of us are aware that the actual constitutional protection surrounding Freedom of Speech does not apply here. However, that being said, yea, we are all free to speak our minds, but that doesn't mean you are protected from non-legal repercussions. Thus, I am allowed to diss him back and even boycot his product. The point about liking the players is correct, I don't have to like him and he doesn't have to like me, just win baby, but they aren't doing that either.
One of my son's little league coaches once told him and the whole team "I know you think I'm yelling at you guys a lot, but as long as I'm yelling, you know that I care and you know that I think you can get better. When you need to worry is when I quit yelling because at that point, I've given up". The guy was a dick, but the point he was making was valid. In this case, the fans that are booing are most likely "Dicks", but so is Urlacher. So what. Ultimately, as long as there are fans in the seats to boo, then you are OK Brian, but keep insulting them and providing an inferior product and the team will be begging for booing fans again. I know that sounds like it would never happen in Chicago, but I recall many games back in the `70's that were blacked out because of low attendance and there are teams in the NFL now that suffer from this fate. Like soul said earlier, "I won't boo you, I'll just ignore you". The Bears do not want that.

LOL, well said Ric. Whether you think booing is "tasteless" or not, it's never a good idea to be rude to the people who in effect pay your salary. Especially when you've just crapped the bed game after game, season after season, and just lost in embarrassing fashion to your key rival for the division.

Those are excellent points 4D, but FWIW, I wasn't attempting to fit Brian Urlacher's comments to constitutional law.
I'm just saying I have no problem with him being upset. BIH, you lost me on the Steve Jobs, Apple thing, but I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I'm sure it was a good thought. I just don't have a problem with Brian. I try to have a bit of empathy for the guy at this point. He's earned that right in my book. In spades.
It's not like he jerked a fan outta the stands and rearranged his face. He has earned the right (in my own personal mind) to speak honestly about how he feels.
If you other guys want to throw him under the bus for this, go right ahead. Heck, boo him on the sidelines if ya want. That's you. I'm different.
