1. This is not 100% the owners might tell Emery that Lovie he here in 2013 and deal with it.
2. If Emery lets Lovie pick or keep his OC Emery is a fool.
3. Yes this is on Emery and its the best move he can make for this team.

Right now, it's on Lovie, but everything after two weeks from now it's on Emery. That's why I think Lovie is gone, and Emery is making a change and getting on with the inevitable. This is Phil's team now, and the sooner he takes control the better for him.

Surely, the ONLY way they will let Lovie remain is if Emery picks a rock solid OC for the Chicago Bears. If Lovie has any problem with this, then they need to quickly show him the door.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

If the McCaskey's step in an force a decision on Emery then everything we've been led to believe about Emery's role and authority has been a sham. I'm not saying I disagree with you, in fact, this is exactly the BS meddling I fear. I've actually just recently forced myself to believe all the news and reports that Emery has absolute up or down on Lovie. If what you suggests happens, as many of us fear, it blows all credibility away regarding the crap coming out of Halas Hall.

The only way to get a rock solid OC in there is not only to keep Lovie, but to extend him multiple years; how's that sound for ya? Me no thanks. Burn the coaching staff w/fire and build it back up from scratch.

Exactly, which is why from an executive level, decision-making vantage that this most certainly is, I don't see how Lovie stays. Any decision where Lovie stays reguires either A) a stop gap, hope it works out, decision, or B) a status quo that only delays the inevitable.

This is more about Rodgers becoming the Rodgers we now know than on Jay.
that plays a part as well, but Cutler has flat out sucked against the packers

Cutler's good, not elite. He needs more support around him to win consistently. His decision-making is not consistently elite, and that's the main reason IMHO.

Well it took years to get a solid qb now its years to get a solid offensive line hard to blame but the defensive line got huge attention and look at the bear defense i wonder why the offense got so little attention until phil came to town.don't see must change until the talent level is there but the money is limited

Ric - why do you say that? That's ONE of the ways to get a solid OC here, but the other way is to replace Lovie and then Emery and the new HC bring in a solid OC. Depending on who the new HC is, the second option may be even easier to find a solid OC than keeping Lovie.

Just an educated guess on my part but I tend to see it that way too, Rakk. This is Emery's shot to remake the team as "his". If he retains Lovie, he will get blamed if he fails and won't have another shot for a long time if he miraculously succeeds. This fact--a new GM wanting to make his mark as "savior" after a choked season--and the HC's failure to beat Green Bay more than once in 4 years, spells doom for Lovie IMHO.
I think the decision has basically already been made and Lovie pretty much knows that Dec. 30th is likely his last game. We shall see...
