Question for the O-Line watchers...

Yes, I realize that the Bears O-Line has been generally aweful* (intentional misspelling).

Am I correct that J. Brown (number 78) was playing Left Guard? If so, was his performance good(doubtful), bad, just plain ugly, or about what one would expect form someone just off the practice squad a couple of weeks ago? He Looked to be nearly the same size as Webb. Does he have LT physicals?

I guess what I am really wondering is, with some time with the team this off season, could he become a player that is good enough to either A. Push Webb so that he has to do his job or be benched?, or B: take the job from Webb? (most likely by being more consistent, or just actually playing better) To reiterate on that last part, not necessarily good, just better than Webb, and better than wet tissue paper?

I'm thinking more for next year than this year...



aweful: noun(idea): a state or circumstance that is so terrible that it is debilitating. Example: "Being on the receiving end of a "shock and awe" campaign is aweful."

Neither one without Tice next year Webb won't be on this team and more then likely not on any NFL team.

Brown is just "more of the same" crap. Not as good as Webb. Frankly, he's the kind of players we bring in to play oline - a guy no other team wanted, so he went undrafted. But we collect these guys and play them eventually. If we don't fire Tice, we'll see this guy as a "project" for 2 or 3 years. He'll be a turnstile. Eventually he'll be out of football.

To put it in perspective, he's not half the player Frank Omiyale is. That's pretty bad.

I think the bears need a solid lt like a clady but the players left need to play in positions they can excel in.band aide players playing out of position isn't working.

Maybe some of you guys that are smart on Offensive line play can answer. What is, in your opinion, our main problem?

Are our players just lacking in talent compared to the average pro lineman, or is there something wrong with their technique as a group?

To be this horribly bad year in and year out makes you wonder just what the main problem is, and how to fix.

It does appear that bad. Having an issue with only one of the T's is correctable. Both T's, is abysmal.

Webb is still on the line, so you have to include intelligence. Other than those few things, I think we have a top line.

In addition to all of those problems, they can't remember a snap count to save their souls. They commit mindless dumb penalties that kill drives. They look very confused as to blocking assignments. They struggle to make run blocks at the 2nd level, which kills our run game. They seem incapable of run blocking in short yardage situations. You never see them get a "surge" in these situations, and get pushed back like rag dolls. They are turnstiles letting rushers at Cutler.

Other than that they're just fine. Jerry Angelo reached deep into the toilet to pull out each of these guys. Tice sprinkled his pixie dust on each one of 'em & claimed we're fine this year.
