I think you might dangle something in front of a Bill Cowher and maybe get a sniff of interest because he's accustomed to coaching for an old line organization with a ton of tradition but who else?

The top guys would be OCs and DCs from other teams or top college coaches and the track record of success those guys have in the NFL with no previous NFL experience isn't very good. Harbaugh is an exception mainly because he was a pretty good NFL QB and comes from a family of coaches.

I'm not saying give it to Toub but I am saying that for all the reasons I listed he's worth talking to about it. Don't you agree?
Bruce Arians intrigues me. Someone brought up Clements. How about Kyle Shanahan? You see that patchwork oline over there and their style just killing it in the run game. idk all of these guys would make me happier then Toub.

I dont have all the answers soul but Im not all hyped up about Toub. A move like that would really turn me off from the team. He would be a one and done imo.

and allot depends on our budget. If we would throw the money Cowher would ask Im sure he would sign here but I think he is going to be in carolina. Im not a Gruden fan but I would take him over Toub thats for damn sure. Brian Billick well um idk for an offensive minded guy baltimore sure stunk it up on O with him around.

Most of the time yes, but not all the time. Most of the time if they aren't let go with the HC already the new HC will interview them for the job. Good one for the new HC if there is to be one in Chicago would be Toubs, I don't see many new HC coming in and letting him go without frist talking with him to see if he fits in the HC plans.

I want to clear onething up. My friend and I were at a dinner, we were not talking about the Bears just football in general. I said to him damn Chicago is a mess right now and that is when he said what he did. I wish I could of asked him when he heard this but I know better. So this could be a few days old or a few weeks old. I was thinking this over last night and I am sure he is 100% spot on with Bates, but was wondering if Lovie ends up being a lame duck HC will Marinelli hang around a year if he is told he would be someone Emery would be intrested in as the Bears new HC in 2014. Of course a lot has to do with what powers Lovie has to give up next year or is willing to give up next year. There so many ways this could play out and a lot of them aren't good for the team.

I would have no problem keeping Marinelli and even give Bates a shot at OC. I think Toub will be gone as he will probably land a HC gig somewhere else, if it's not here. If anyone else had said this, I would not believe it, but I'm sure you have at least a couple inside people that you get your information from.

add in that there could be as many as 6-11 openings.... Bears are going to have a competition to get anyone good without spending a lot of money

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think coaching salaries affect the players salary cap in any way. I believe it's just an expense to ownership thats separate.

That's a great point. I forget that we're not the only city needing HC help. And OC's are in demand as HC's too (so it may not be a cakewalk getting an offensive minded HC). I just hope we don't get some deadbeat idiot.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Keeping in line with the title of this thread, I read today that Pagano has been cleared to return to the Colts and coach. That makes Arians more available than before, as he might have been reluctant to leave with Pagano's status uncertain. He would probably be comfortable with both Marinelli and Toub. Arian's is familiar with Marinelli's defensive philosophy. Toub would be a no-brainer for any HC.

Bates could stay as OC in this case cause Haley would be the one that has the say in the O. Cutty happy, Marshall happy, Haley happy, owners happy cause the save some money.

On the defensiv side, I'm sure he wouldn't be against having a guy like Marinelli being his DC. Again, the players know him and we already have to pay him.

I doubt that Toub would stay. He will get a chance to be a HC and this time he will get the job. If not, offer him to stay and expand his role a bit.

Tice, Drake and whoever the OLine Coach is will get fired.
It's sad that we don't even know who the OL coach is ... where all of the problems of the team are.

I had to look him up : TIM HOLT.

Tim Holt is the offensive line coach for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League.

He was a three-year letterman at Southern Connecticut State University, and coached there for two years afterwards.

Holt would serve a total of 14 years with colleges. Holt served ten of those years with the offensive line, with the rest as running backs.

In 2009, Holt was hired as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaching intern, before becoming an offensive assistant,

and becoming the assistant offensive line coach under head coach Raheem Morris and offensive coordinator Greg Olsen in 2011.

In his final two seasons with the Bucs, the team's offensive line yielded 4.5 rushing yards per carry, seventh best in the NFL.

Holt, along with the rest of Morris' staff, was fired after the 2011 season.

He was hired by the Bears in 2012 to succeed Mike Tice, who was promoted to offensive coordinator.

Holt is the fourth offensive line coach for the Bears under head coach Lovie Smith (along with Tice, Harry Hiestand, and Pete Hoener).

    AND THERE YOU HAVE IT.
