I think we went over all this in a different thread but the pure number of sacks does not reflect the reality of the pass pro between AR & JC. The Packers OL is certainly not great but it is light years better than the Bears'. Many of AR's sacks are coverage sacks or "trying to make something happen" sacks. Many of JC's sacks are "never had a chance" sacks. Saw that difference in the game just last weekend. Big difference in the general amount of time each QB has to go through his progressions and hit the open man. Not even close.
Cutler in big div games has always sucked, see Den vs SD(he was 1 and 4). He's not 1 and like 8 against GB. No suprise that he's struggling here, and it's not all on the OL and the WR's and the OC(A LOT OF IT IS, but not all). This idea of Cutler is great if only for the OC/WR's/OL is a damned lie(to paraphrase and apologist). He was a turnover machine in Den too, he had a near 1 to 1 ratio td's to turn overs(picks/fumbles)...what was the excuses there?
No one is questioning his potential and inherent talent, but he makes stupid mistakes on his own that help negate that. GB has told you that; they expect Cutler to throw them the ball, and he does it time and time again.
Even w/a great OL/OC/WR's he's still going to throw poor picks in big games, and GB has told you he will; the fact that everyone ignores that on this board is amazing.
Again, it's not he's is the primary problem, or the only problem he isn't. But he's about 4th on the list; and it's not near as wide of a margin as some of you are making it out to be. I mean hell, if he needed a complete team around him why the hell did we give up 2 firsts a 4th and a player for him? Your top guys don't need complete teams, if that is what Cutler needed then we might as well have kept those picks and drafted someone; it would have been a damn site cheaper.
Keep cutler, build around him; but stop acting like he's not part of the problem and he's not got room to improve

Sums it up well. When Cutler is making good decisions, using his athleticism, and drilling passes that only a few who are playing the game now can make, it's awesome to watch. But, as good as he can be, he can make some really dumb decisions, that makes you go WTF? All that said, I have no problem with him as our QB now and for years to come. I don't get the Cutler haters, nor do I get Cutler apologists. Be real about his play, because there is good there and bad.
So, for those of you that are trying to angle some of the blame onto Cutler, are you saying his TD to INT ratio is an example of why he should be blamed for our offensive woes? Are you saying that such a ratio suggests bad QB play?

My whole point in the Cutler talk is pointing out that he shares in the blame for the Bears suck. The way some fans are talking he is completely blame free and nothing he does is his fault at all. It is always on the coordinators or the receivers. Reminds me of packer fans defending Brett Favre.

I understand what you're getting at, and Cutler definitely makes some bad decisions. He has to do better, no question about that Benj.
I don't think we'll know exactly what we have in Jay Cutler until we can see him work behind a decent offensive line, and to have a bit of continuity in OC/schemes & with a solid offensive coordinator.
Cutler is the least of our worries right now IMHO. We have issues right now to deal with that are killing us, and will continue to ruin our seasons until they are addressed. My gut feeling is that this franchise is a screwed goose for a couple of years while Emery tries to fix the critically important issues. Cutler, to me, just isn't a "fix it" type of issue. Just a "get your head out of your butt" issue.
I wish there was a way to say what percentage of Cutler's INTs were his fault or the receiver's fault and compare them to other QBs. I'd bet Cutler has a higher % of receiver caused INTs than anybody else. There is no question that Cutler has room for improvement, but you know what needs more improvement? False starts. How many times does our veteran pro-bowl center false start? I can't imagine how a center, the guy that knows the count and when the ball is going to be snapped can have ANY false starts, let alone one or two PER GAME. And I'm not even counting Webbs or Carimis false starts. Those can be as much as a drive killer as an INT. Why has this not been fixed this year? Who is our o-line coach anyway? Oh, right.
I like Cutler, and I am glad he is here. I really am. I just want everyone to shoulder the blame. The only one I can see getting off scottfree is Marshall.
