Yeah, if Tice stays he needs help. Use the "Quality Control" title, or whatever moniker, to bring someone in as his assistant. I'm not even opposed to that person being Bates, but would rather they go through an interview process.

I have no problem with Webb or Scott sticking as the 3rd (reserve) OT. But he's gotta be upgraded as the starting LT. He just can't hold his own consistently without being given tons of help and that limits what you can do in the passing game. The roster gets stronger by pushing from the "top down"...upgrading starters as needed and pushing former starters down the depth chart.
Im not throwing Emery under the bus since it was his first draft, on short notice, and he didn't have his scouting team in place yet. But you're right, DeCastro or Cordy Glenn would have been better 1st round choices for OL and Chandler Jones would have been a better DE choice.
Uh...yeah decastro was still on the board and IMO that was a gift...but we took a olb pretending to be a de instead
Just dosent make sense
The bottom line is that we need the Bears to invest in a rock-solid offensive line.

Once you become the worst for many years the only direction left is moving up the ranks. I can see the bears ol moving up as far as 29th.
How I envision the conversation about the offensive line went last off season
Lovie: Hey Mike, Emery wants to know what you need in order to improve the offensive line
Tice: The line isn't great, but I think we have some real solid players there who will go a long way to keeping Jay on his feet this off season. We will be fine
Lovie: So you don't think you need any help on the line?
Tice: I have the fullest confidence in my guys.
Lovie: I just spoke to Mike, he says the offensive line is fine as is
Emery: Good to know, but what do you think?
Lovie: All I can do is go off of what Mike tells me. If he says the line is fine, I have to take him at his word. What do you think?
Emery: I just got here Lovie, I do not know the inner workings of the team and need the coaches help in determining what the biggest needs are
Lovie: Well Mike says the line is fine, and that is all I have to go off of.
Emery: I guess I will have to take his word as well then. From afar looking at last year, the line looked in bad shape. But with Mike working with them as closely as he is, I guess he knows more than I do. we will put off the line for a year.
Lovie: If that is what you think is best
Getting rid of martz would make the oline better lol lol lol
