So many reasons... it goes way beyond his inability to pick good OCs. He can't pick too many of his other coaches either.
Other than that stuff, he's great.
We've had all these discussions. All those arguments have been hashed out. And they are correct. All of them. There is an overwhelming abundance of ineptitude and mediocrity emanating from the deer in the headlights gaze. clock managment, red flags, time outs, lack of game time adjustments, accountability, player evaluation, coach evaluation, game planning. The list goes on and on like a habitual offender's rap sheet. It has come down to the most glaring: the perennially mishandled offense. This is the one thing that Emery can use as a reason to fire him. Not, well, virginia, there was that bad red flag challenge or the bungled time out three weeks ago. With even a mediocre offense and our excellent D, we could have made some waves, but we have been pathetic. that is what it boils down to. All the other stuff is the stuff rotting the foundation. The offense is the building that came crashing down. And now our D is aging and not as good.
It is time for Lovie to go. whether you blame only the O, or only all the other stuff, or everything combined into one big stinking steaming pile of doodoo.

HYPOTHETICAL.
If (likely) Lovie comes back next year, Tice is fired and Bates is promoted to OC, what happens if the offense still sucks? Will fans call out Bates like they are doing with Tice? Or, will it all be due to the offensive line and WRs that are why he is failing? Will Bate's failure get the same excuse making that Cutler is getting? Bad Line, Bad WRs (and a bad OC, but cant use that for Bate's).

Not sure Benji on all of that. I think part would depend on how the O plays. I think two things would happen. Emery would take criticism for not having gotten rid of Lovie this year. Lovie would take even more criticism than this year, and I do think that unless you could see that the O had vastly improved (TE's catching the ball, play creativity, is he using the RBs better, using the WRs better - and teaching them to catch again, holding his own against creative DCs, etc) that Bates would also be criticised If everyone could see that it was primarily the OL and that was it, I think they might give him a pass. This tear just too many things to place the blame only on the OL, and Cutler actually did have a few games with decent protection.
You have to see what his O looked like before you could answer with any real authority.

Exactly!

IF he stays - and Emery tells him they're NOT using FA or draft picks on the defense ... this is the " type " of reaction Lovie will have in The War Room and in meetings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBxPJe1nk-0
Cuz defense comes first w Lovie - always has always will . Don't ever think otherwise .

Probably, but at least it would give Emery a good reason to fire him. Possibly by just throwing him out of the plane....
"Professional Armchair Quarterback" and other oxymora.....

I still don't t6hink Lovie is going anywhere.

I agree. Regardless of how the Bears finish, I think he will be back next year. That is a hell of a lot of money involved in firing him

So you're saying Lovie gets an extension this year? Or that he's coaching next year as a lame duck? I don't think either one of those possibilities is acceptable.

Well, we can stop guessing what priorities ownership has then. It would cement ownership priorities and they can say it's not about the money all they want. Actions speak louder than words.
