Well, Lovie Smith is about 6M. Marinelli has got to be close to a mill.... that is 7. Add in the new HC, new OC, new DC ect... that is gonna be pretty expensive. Unless we go with a bottom of the barrel HC that makes next to nothing
George was pretty sound in saying that he wants this team to compete w/GB....did they compete? Said he wants the Bears to have as many SB's as GB; are the signs that they will get closer w/Lovie?
If there are any truth to the reports from HH, then I say chances are he's gone w/out a good run in the playoffs. And even w/a playoff appearance he's no better then 50/50.
That's 6 mil that doesn't go towards the cap; and a team that earns over 200 mil in revenue(as of 06, way more then that now), really think they are worried about 6-10mil if they think it means beating GB and getting to a SB?
I'd say 0 shot at getting extended w/out a deep playoff run. and even w/that only a small chance.
There is just no reason to bring him back; the money is miniscule to what the team really makes.
If Virginia wants Lovie back he'll be back...

Well ya the owner will always have final say; but when the owner says that they are keeping out of it....then that's not exactly a ringing endorsement is it?
I have no doubt that they had all sorts of perameters when they hired Emery on what was going to allow him to jetison Lovie early or what would allow Lovie to stay, or get extended. Hard to not have something that comforts the GM to what he can and cannot do w/a HC he is saddled with.
