Cutler the coach killer needs to maybe think about getting away from lovie if he plans to survive another few years in this league or in Chicago for that matter. The more i hear about Cutler the more i hear about people wanting to sign a rookie and start preparing him then signing cutler but only if lovie is forced out. Not sure many coaches wanna bother with cutler

    All good points, MP.

I think this off-season will be very interesting, and more so than in most years. All eyes will be on Emery to see what he does.

Also, I figure these issues are ones where reasonable people can disagree. The more that I read the threads and posts here on the messageboard, the more I feel like the "truth" is somewhere in the middle of the extremes. We won't know the full truth until about a year from now. Off-season moves often look brilliant at the time. And "hope springs eternal" during the pre-season and training camp.

It's what happens over the course of the 16 game season - and hopefully post season - that is the true "report card" for the team.

Emery has his work cut out for him this off-season. Could be good. Could be bad. Hopefully we don't end up with 2013 being yet another mediocre team.

    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I fear that settling for mediocrity has pretty much been rule 1 for the Bears upper management for a long time. Especially on offense.

It's painfully obvious that the coaching staff is inept on the offensive side of the ball from the HC on down. In other words, Lovie Smith is probably a helluva DC but a failure at HC. Can't vet and hire qualified OC's and positional coaches on offense. Doesn't hold them accountable. Only fires someone way too late to save his own ass. Piss poor player development. Roster management is hopelessly biased towards defense and and ignorant of talent evaluation on O. Play calling, game scheming, clock management, challenge tactics....and so on and so on.

The man and his subordinates simply are not qualified to manage and run an NFL offense worthy of competing for a championship. Leaving them in place (no excuses!) would be as stupid as leaving the current OL in place.

I'm also one of the many who have been on the fence as to whether Cutler will ever truly materialize into that franchise QB we have drooled over and fantasized about now for years. Don't get me wrong I think he has a world of talent but am not sure he has that complete winner's mentality that it take to the get to the SB and win the big show. He has had his share of drama and meltdowns (ALthough I formly believe with a better coaching staff and OLine he would be able to at least pass for 3500 yards and distribute the ball better). I am starting to be of the opinion that we wait until the end of 2013 to see if he will be worth the huge extension or new contract. We always have the option to Franchise him next year. I think Melton is more important to lock down as he is a very valueable core D player for the interior of the line and his perf this year was really good, really good.

Tice will take over as HC, Bates takes over as OC.

That is about as dramatic as I see the Bears being this off season.

Oh we might lose Toub, because a lot of teams are going to let HCs go this year.

Cutler wouldn't have a problem with a new OC or HC... Sorry but continuity is nothing more than an excuse. Just ask Alex Smith about this. Just need to find a OC or HC that makes it work

Tough shit Jay. Tice is a fuck up and if Lovie stays the best we can do for you is Bates. That's as close as you come to keeping at least that part of this offense that does work intact. Tice = "The Peter Principle" and has truly risen of the level of his own incompetence. He was a better HC than he's been an OC.

I believe Cutler can easily handle a new OC. Im not so confident that some our wrs outside of Marshal and Jefferys will benefit from it. Lets be real here Hester is a retard and Bennett is lost now and when he was here his first two years he was struggling with play books

Marshall and AJ wouldn't have much problems too. Bennett as #4 would be more than good enough. Give him 1 more year. After that we COULD cut him if we chose to.

Like I said before, I'm not against a change. Go away from that Run Scheme and just go with a West Coast or Spread offense. Start with a offensiv minded HC and give him the options he wants. Benji is right here. Cutty just wants to come out of this as "I liked him"
