Bring in a new HC from elsewhere, interview Toub too, but get someone in here who knows offensive football and can evaluate and use offensive personnel properly.

If I had any assurances that losing on Sunday to Detroit would absolutely assure us of being rid of Lovie I would buy a Jay Cutler voodoo doll and stick it with a pin every time he dropped back to pass. And I would buy an Aaron Rodger one as well just to be certain that for good measure Minny, who everyone thought would be the NFCN cellar dweller, ends up in the playoffs and after a 7-1 start the Bears don't.

I have had it with Lovie and the current regime. One more year will not change a damn things except to get everyone one year older and one more year away from championship football.
I would almost agree with you if I felt the Cutler excuse train would stop with a coaching change. But it won't. If he fails under a new HC and a new OC then it will be "oh it's his first year in a new system, give it time."

I don't think it's excuses for Cutler per se, at least not from me. For me it's more wishful, hopeful thinking. It's been forever since I've seen a competent QB in a Bears uniform, and seeing Jays natural abilities, I'm hopeful that something, players, coaches, schematic changes will bring out the "elite" in him. I watch the guy sometimes and think "wow I don't know if any other QB can make that throw" other timer it's "wow I don't know if any other QB would do something so stupid". I guess I'm hoping for that "magic pill" that makes him great. Thought that was Martz, guess not, blame 7 step drops, crappy receivers, poor line. Then Tice seemed like the answer, thinking Jay would have more say in the plays, having BM too, surely this would be the breakout season! Nope, blame Tice and shitty line play. For me at least Jay doesn't get a complete pass because I've seen him do some really boneheaded things with the football, but I'm still waiting for the "pill". Guess I just got tired of watching the Bears play GB and the announcers rambling on about 27 starting QBs since Favre started his streak with GB, and now those bastards have Rodgers too? I just want my franchise QB, and for now Jay is all I got so I give him some rope, although its getting shorter every year.

The problem is that IF we trot out a new coach/scheme/playbook for the offense (and maybe for the head coach too) then what can you do? It's another year lost.

Cutler, is never going to amount to much under these circumstances. Neither will the offense. I do believe that after a year or so in a new system, that we will see a decent offense......assuming of course, that Emery fixes the personnel woes. I'm OK with another restart with coaches/scheme/playbook - one more time - if they can finally bring in a solid offensive coach.

Ya gotta start somewhere. 2013 may be a good restart opportunity, and we see some improvement. By 2014, we can be even better.

But after all that, if he continues to look bad, it will be yet another OC which is making him look bad. Heaven forbid people actually put blame on Cutler. But no.... its three OCs who have failed. Soon to be a fourth

That's a good and valid point. But folks also factor in the crap oline, TE's who can't catch (can't block either) and WR's who can't run routes or catch footballs, clueless OC's (and a head coach that doesn't know squat about building an offense). And they figure there ARE some extenuating circumstances here.

How can we even evaluate Cutler under the situation he landed in here in Chicago? Sure blame him for some bonehead decisions (the worst one was deciding to come to Chicago - the butt hole of offenses). But he's really been screwed here.

all valid points. And that is all I am trying to accomplish. Put some of the blame where it belongs. On Cutler. He isn't the devil, and he does not deserve all the blame, but he has played poorly more often than we would like. You can not pin it all on the coaches or the line. He holds the ball too long and takes several sacks due to that, and he makes some seriously awful throws at times. It is not all on the WR like some like to say.

Again, I like Cutler. I am glad we have Cutler. It just makes me sick that once again we have a QB where half the fan base is making excuses for him. They did it with Rex, they did it with Orton and they are doing it again with Cutler.

It's just so disappointing that things turned out so bad. For me, it's not like I'm feeling good if Lovie is fired. I like the guy and wanted him to take us back to the SB and win it this time.

But what a mess. The time to have gotten a solid OC was years ago. The time to have gotten a solid oline was years ago. The time to have gotten solid TE's was years ago. And on, and on, and on...

I'm angry about how it all could have been avoided. We could have been the lead dog in our division. Instead we're clawing to keep out of another 3rd place NFC-N finish.
