If Lovie stays, he will keep Tice another year.
I think that if Lovie stays, nothing changes. Not Tice. Nothing.
And I think the Bears will keep Lovie if the Bears get into the playoffs. 2013 = 2012. Webb & the oline boys will be thrilled. K. Davis & Spaeth will too.
Most importantly, Tice will have another year to refine the "Hester Package" for us. Finally, in 2013 it will be (finally) unleashed on the world, in all its awesome splendor.

I drove through the snowstorm of the century to come home and read this? Thanks for ruining my holidays!

As much as I want Lovie Dovie gone, and the rest of the OFFENSIVE offensive staff, it pains me to know that this is a definite possibility.
Until we get to the offseason and see what Emery starts doing, or not doing, I still have hope that our new GM uses an axe to chop the head off the offensive monster, and then a 24-grit grinder wheel - not an emery cloth - to polish up the remainder of this offense.

I highly doubt Tice stays without Lovie getting an extension. Tice's contract is up at the end of the year. If he is going to re-sign he will want more than a one year contract, which does not make sense if Lovie only has one year left. So one way or another Tice is likely gone at seasons end.

Last year was supposed to be his last year, but when other teams came sniffing around him they added a year to his contract. Making it run through 2012. He is gone at years end unless Lovie gets an extention.

This was posted earlier from Pompei's Mailbag.
LINK to the article Dan Pompei On the NFL 8:00 a.m. CST, December 27, 2012 Do you see the Bears keeping Mike Tice around as OC or do you think they will look for someone with a more modern system? @jboers, from Twitter
If the Bears don’t change their head coach, I don’t believe they will change their offensive coordinator, either. Their best chance of making this group of offensive players all they can be in 2013 is probably with Tice as the offensive coordinator. You can’t keep changing coordinators like you change furnace filters. More change is not likely to serve Jay Cutler well.

Has Phil Emery shown his hand at all regarding his feelings for Lovie Smith? @Joey FAV, from Twitter
Yes, he has shown his hand repeatedly. Emery has a lot of respect for Smith. And he wants Smith to remain as head coach of the Bears as long as Smith is getting the team to do what Emery believes it is capable of. Emery did not come to Chicago with an agenda of firing the head coach. He came with the idea of making it work. He’s still trying to do that.

Are you buying that Lovie's job depends on whether they make the playoffs? So if the Bears win and the Vikings don’t pull it out against Green Bay, Lovie sticks around? Seems a little silly to tie it to something they have no control over at this point. I'd like to think Emery has his mind made up based on his evaluation of the season already. And for the record, I'd like them to keep Lovie around. Marc K.
Making the playoffs would be the one way to guarantee Smith would be back. I think if the Bears win Sunday but miss the playoffs, we’d clearly be in a gray area as it pertains to Smith’s future. The area is grayer still because of the presence of George McCaskey as chairman of the board. Don’t forget he was running the ticket office, not the team, when Smith was hired. Now McCaskey is going to have a say in whether Smith should be retained as the head coach, just like he had a say in whether Jerry Angelo should have been retained as the general manager. I’m not sure the decision would be clear-cut given the scenario you describe. But my gut tells me Smith stays with 10 wins, even if the Bears miss the playoffs.

Tice will stay unless Lovies Job is on the line.

Pompei states that George M. will have a say in if Lovie stays or goes. I'll go back to does Emery have full authority as GM, or not? Most of the Chicago sports media, along with Ted Phillips and George McCaskey himself have stated that Emery has full authority deciding HC, that includes Lovie after this season.
Then along comes an article like this, from a guy who supposedly has some insight into what goes on inside Halas Hall, and it throws into question just how much the McCaskey's are still meddling.
Of course, it's their team, and they can do what the want with it. That includes calling the shots behind the scenes. However, since George himself has stated otherwise, the success of the team is all on Emery's shoulders going forward.
Keep, or fire, Lovie. After next Sunday the success of this team will fall on Emery's shoulders.
