Eh same sport two completely different ways of winning. In college you have to be great at recruiting and have a booster club willing to pay top dollar for players to win. In the Pro's you have to be a grinder/student of the game. If the guy is great at x's and o's, and good at breaking down film/teaching his system I'd ttake his losing record over a great recruiter w/a great alumni system willing to spend top dollar that has multiple national championships.
not saying this is the guy, but I wouldn't discount him solely b/c he cannot win at the college level.

I do, because now you are simply "hoping" he will have success as an NFL HC. And we are way past settling on "hope." This would be fine for a struggling franchise like the Jags, when you have nothing to lose, but the Bears have too many good players and too little time to rely on a new HC that doesnt have a track record of success.
It mentioned he was the Saints OC, so if we are talking about a replacement for Tice, then thats a different story.
But HC?

I don't know anything about him; again, if he's know as a football grinder/great at breaking down film guy I'd be all about him since he's an O minded guy.
But I don't so I really cannot speak on it. I just don't consider winning in college to having any coralation to winning in the NFL.
As long as the new guy is a O minded guy that is really good at it, I won't mind it, but I hardly want a Norv Turner or Marty Shotty or a Shanny type coming here, no proven failures thank you. I want to see a HC that understands how to inovate, or at least succesfully copycat(Frazier up in Minny) for how today's nfl is trending.

Maybe the Bears will hire a failed high school coach this time, just to make it interesting

Or a high school quarterbacks coach... like he who must not be named?

How about a High School RB coach, I know one that could use the money. He wouldn't be a good NFL HC but what the hell, even if they fired him he would still make great money. Just saying.
