A name I haven't seen mentioned
*One name that might surprise you that is on some NFL owners’ lists of potential head coaches: Doug Marrone of Syracuse. Marrone is 24-25 over four years as a head coach, but his Orangemen are coming off a 7-5 season as they prepare for the New Era Pinstripe Bowl Saturday. And Marrone has NFL experience. What might really appeal to NFL teams about Marrone is he served as Sean Payton’s offensive coordinator in New Orleans.(from NFP)

Marrone is used as slang in Italian. It's like saying Holy Mother of God, or Jesus H. Christ, or even Holy Crap.
Could be interesting, comedy-wise, if he came aboard. In all seriousness, though, I don't care where the guy is from, or which coaching tree he belongs to, as long as he can get the job done. I just think it's a bit premature to start predicting who the next guy will be when the current ones haven't been dumped. Yet. If they're not, I'll be saying Marrone a lot. And probably a bunch of words much worse than that.

Sooo...a losing COLLEGE record is supposed to be impressive enough to lead one of the most storied NFL franchises now? neat.

But it would be just like the Bears to hire him. Reminds me of Ron Turner getting run outta Champaign IL after failing as a college coach at the U of I - only to be hired by the Bears so he could destroy our offense for years.

LOL. Good point.
Maybe the Bears will hire a failed high school coach this time, just to make it interesting

I would prefer Lovie over a losing coach at the college level. If you can't win at the college level, chances are not good that you can win at the pro level. Shit, some successful college coaches fail at the NFL level.
In fact, if the Bears fire Lovie, they better go against history and hire a coach with actual NFL HC experience. I am sick of hiring coaches who have never been a HC before, ANYWHERE!
