We have a weak team that needs a miracle to make the playoffs. Why dink around firing up your opponent with trash talk?
Sure, if we WERE the '85 Bears who could actually, you know, back up the talk, then I'd be fine. We are not the '85 Bears though.
Could it possibly be that the bears (Wright and Melton) are trying to get into the heads of a mentally weak team? Get them "pumped up" and over extend themselves to the point they are going to make more mistakes? It is possible.
Again, this is not typical of a Lovie Smith team. But Marshall did it a few weeks ago with the packers, and now Wright and Melton are doing it. Either they are doing it on their own, or someone else is telling them that it is fine.
The Packers swept us. They won the Division. We are 3rd in the Division.
1. Weak teams, like us, probably shouldn't get opponents fired up in a must-win game that will end our season if we lose.
2. By trash talking about their QB this way, we're just begging Suh and the boys to kill Cutler. You can bet that behind the scenes Jay is crapping himself he's so angry over this. He will be the one paying the price for the stupid talk.

3. Our oline was going to have problems as it was. Now we just upped the Detroit effort. Think Webb and our boys are up to backing up this trash talk? I didn't think so.

4. There is zero upside to getting the Detroit team fired up to beat us Sunday.

Suh is a Charles Martin waiting to happen.
From what I understand everything Wright was saying in that interview was complimentary. "He makes all the throws, has a great arm" things like that. Then added "we need to consistently pressure him cuz he tends to fold a bit under pressure"
My understanding of Melton, is he was asked if the Lions were dirty and said "yeah, always have been" and then singled out Raiola.
Probably not real smart, would've been better to go with the old "no comment", but I don't see it as going out trying to trash talk the Lions.
