It does not matter how much you win if you can not seal the deal. Anything less than a Super Bowl win is a failure. Sure, he only made the playoffs three times in nine years. But his teams have always been competitive and usually waited until the last game of the year to be eliminated. How many truly meaningless games have the Bears played in his tenure? Not too many games have been meaningless. A lucky bounce one way or another.... a RB staying IN BOUNDS, ect. and the Bears make the playoffs a lot more times.
But, it is a results orientated business. And you are right, Lovie has failed to produce a Super Bowl. So, he joins other failed coaches who have not been able to get the job done. You either are a Super Bowl winning coach, or you are a failure. Win the division 20 times, get the first round bye each time... shit reach the super bowl each time... if you lose, you are a failure as a head coach. Great record, but overall a failure.
