LAKE FOREST, Ill. – With Michael Bush already on injured reserve and Armando Allen (knee) questionable for Sunday’s must-win game in Detroit, the Chicago Bears elevated running back Harvey Unga to the active roster from the practice squad and waived defensive end Cheta Ozougwu, the team announced on Friday.
Unga has spent the last three preseasons with the Bears after the club burned a seventh-round pick to select the former BYU standout in the 2010 NFL Supplemental draft, but the running back has never appeared in a regular season game. Unga had two separate stints on the Bears’ practice squad this season.
Ozougwu played in two games for the Bears this year and recorded two tackles.
The decision to promote Unga was solely based on health. The Bears needed another able body in their backfield with Allen dealing with a knee injury that kept him off the practice field the entire week and with starting running back Matt Forte nursing a sore ankle. Both Allen and Forte got hurt last week in the Bears’ 28-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, although Forte is expected to play this weekend versus the Lions.
Veteran tailback Kahlil Bell could assume a larger role on Sunday if Allen is out. Bell carried the ball 13 times for 32 yards against Arizona after the club re-signed him earlier that week

Over easy. When the Bears see this kid rip the Lions D for 10-20 yards a clip and get 4 TD's in the first 6 O series he'll be our new #1 RB and be signed to a huge extension. The Bears don't know the sheer awesomeness of Harvey Unga, and now even Lovie's ineptness won't be able to hide it. Every fan that has ever seen him run in OTA's/pre season know, but the coaches refused to see. Even the Aurise Currie pales in comparision.

Laugh all you want at the White Mamba, but Omar Ashik should have been resigned apparently; he's an unstoppable beast compared to Noah.

To be fair I kind of agree w/the article that said Sanz has a better chance somewhere where the QB doesn't have to see you break before throwing the ball. Still not sure it will matter since he couldn't even break into the ST's squad.

Regarding Unga, about darn time, here's hoping he gets some quality opportunities. (I'd like to know if he is worth keeping.)
regarding Sanz, yeah, Sanz may very well do better in a different offense... Cant say that I'm surprised that he was picked up, Given that it is the Bengals who picked him up is kinda good, I bet there are plenty of OSU fans who remember him, so he should get his fair shot there.
"Professional Armchair Quarterback" and other oxymora.....

I don't know what the love affair w/Unga is but if he plays he can play ST and take Peanut's place there for Pete's sake.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
