Hats off to the over-achieving Vikings & their staff.
With a less talented roster than the Bears, they won with the grit & determination the Bears failed to show in the second half of the season.
There is no doubt in my mind that making the playoffs meant more to the Minnesota team than it did to ours. They proved it by how they played against top competition.

I'm sad to say it but the time has come for a change of direction in Chicago.

um...no I said Emery will have been IN PART influenced by ownership. If you want Lovie and the false positive of almost there by all means root for it. As for myself not so much.

Just curious. Because I know most people will declare that he was forced to keep Lovie if he is not fired.

Let me start by saying that I think Lovie has gotten far more hatred than he deserved over the course over his career. He's not a great coach, but he is far from being bad.

However, that being said, it's time. He has to be fired. He has had a decent run, but being here nine years, he has run his course and the team needs a new direction. His achilles heel his time here has been the offense. Sure, he has been unlucky with the offensive coaches he was given (and certainly with the talent he was given). Lovie is going to be a year-to-year lame duck coach until he gets a good OC. However, no competent offensive coaches with options elsewhere are going to sign on to what could be a sinking ship. They are going to go where they have a greater chance of being employed the next year. I'm sure Lovie will get another job in a few years (he seems to be highly thought-of), and I hope for his sake he can get good offensive coaches to come when he does. The Bears need a new coach and they need to make getting a good offensive mind a priority, whether or not they hire one as the head coach.

I don't know if Emery will fire him, but I hope so.

I think Lovie should go. But I will not be disappointed if he is brought back.

The biggest issue that worries me is if we see yet another offensive coordinator come in and change everything again. We need to see some consistancy or this offense will remain stagnant for many more playoff-less years.

Emery will lose all credibility if he doesn't fire Lovie this week. Failing to win the division, failing to make the playoffs, melting down a second season in a row, failing to beat good teams, and being completely unable to exploit Green Bay's weak defense like Minny just did....all ought to get him canned no hesitation needed.

    Fire Lovie immediately.

Thank God so now we can get on with what to do about this mess. Hopefully Phil Emery will step out this week and declare one way or the other what his intentions are as far as coaching goes.

Like I've been saying all along I really don't care one way of the other what he decides but I'm convinced that if he doesn't make some significant changes in the coaching staff and in player personnel next years outcome will be little different than this one. Personally I think it's time to move on.

Yeah I know Toub and Drake came out in his defense this week but then again Drake would be expected to. He owes his entire existence as an NFL assistant to Lovie. If Lovie's gone who's gonna hire a guy who hasn't developed even one top WR in his entire tenure with the Bears.

Toub claims Lovie is one of the best if not the best HC in the NFL, LOL. Sorry, not by a long shot Dave. He may the most popular coach buy he's far from the best. Maybe the most disturbing thing is hearing both say how he lets his coaches coach without interference. I don't see that as a positive any longer as far as the team goes. With Toub it may have worked but with Drake obviously it didn't nor did it with Tice.

I think the root of the problem with Lovie as HC is that he doesn't step in when he should. Ultimately he's responsible for all that goes on as far as his team is concerned so I don't know how you continue to allow him to coach and fail to achieve the expected results when one of the major reasons for that is that he refused to take charge of all matters that affect the outcome of a game.

This season was lost 3 weeks ago when we failed to beat the Vikings and put them out of the playoffs. This remind you guys of anything from the recent past? Like when we had the same opportunity to do that with the Packers and lost only to lose to them again in the NFCC Game. This is twice in three years that we've been in control of our own destiny in our own division and failed to deliver the knockout blow just like the way we fail to score TDs in the red zone and end up settling for FGs.

If there's anything that's emblematic of the Bears offensive mediocrity it's that and that carries over too the performance of the team in general. Despite Lovies W/L record his teams have become steeped in mediocrity and once again had the defense not gotten four turnovers today the Lions would have ended up winning this game. That was another pathetic offensive performance today.

I'm actually glad the Vikes got the nod. Any team that goes out and plays with their backs to the wall like they did today and outscores the Packers the wat they did deserves it. Every time the Bears get into a situation like that we end up stepping on our dicks and all I see from Lovie is that tight lipped sad sack face of his. It would be nice to actually see another face on that sideline for a change but if I was a betting man I'd say I'll be seeing it again next year.

One more reason I'm fed up with his handling of this team can be found below. Look at the inactives list and AND the practice squad roster. Between the active, inactive and PS roster we have four fucking QB apparently having signd Kellen Moore to the spot that opened when we let Sanz go. WFT!!!! Why in the blue hell do we need four QBs????? We let a guy whose shown some promise as a Wes Welker type WR go in favor of an undersized, left handed QB who couldn't even stick on an NFL roster through training camp!!!!!

Jeezus I don't believe the way this team is run. Thank God I'll have the Broncos to watch throughout the playoffs. It's gonna be fun to watch a team that actually has an offense for a change!

Come on Phil. We need to see a press conference before this week is out. Let us know whether or not we can expect to see some big changes or it's back to a few more seasons of missing the playoffs and any chance we'll ever have for a championship anytime soon.

Myself, I believe ownership will leave it to Emery, not so much for the trust in him, but to keep themselves blameless if it doesn't work.
