I think we have the 2nd best roster in the division right now. Even with us having the worst o-line.
But unfortunately, our team collapsed in the second half of the season, while the team with the third or fourth best roster manned-up & played their best when it mattered most.

After the San Francisco game, the Bears were never the same. The same thing happened to the '87 and the '91 teams, getting hammered by the 49ers and then going into a funk for the rest of the season.
I think it's a demoralizing thing --- when you're cruising along, thinking you're among the best and then someone just comes along and mops the floor with you. Especially for an older, veteran team.

For the Vikings, just making the playoffs was a huge deal. They played their butts off and deserve to be there.
For the Bears, the sense I got after the 49ers game and for the remainder of the year was that they knew they weren't Superbowl caliber, they knew the problems they have weren't going to heal themselves without off-season changes and that getting to the playoffs just to lose wasn't enough to motivate this team.

I think "foreseeable future" makes it sounds quite a bit more foreboding than it is... The window for elite RB's to be at the top of their game has gotten extremely small and he is already 7 years or so in the league. Plus, we're not saying they won't have AP, we are saying that it is very unlikely for AP to duplicate his performance this season since it was (IMO) the best ever by an RB. If AP rushes for 1600 yards that's still a really good season but this team finishes at least 2 games worse.

You said this Vikings team has more than AP. Who? Like I said, it's very unlikely that Percy Harvin has a long term future with this team.

He's not a young pup by any means, and they've basically ridden on his shoulders his entire career, as did his college team. More mileage on a RB generally = shorter career. He has a few seasons left max before it all starts catching up to him.

We can agree to disagree on this. AP is not your typical RB. He's shown that. They said he was done when he had the devastating knee injury ("oh, he'll never be the same player again").

Of course he came back and dominated again. The man is a machine. Precision, power, speed & smart. He'll be around for awhile longer. To me that is the "foreseeable future" but heck, let's just see what happens.

The people who think the Vikings are just a fluke, and not for real under Frazier, are in denial. But talk is cheap, let's just watch what he does with the Vikes over the next few seasons.

Just throwing this out there, but the Vikings are the 4th youngest team in the league. And don't forget about the kicker, when they only have to get to the 40 to score points.

You are right. AP and Jarred Allen. Nothing else.

Make all the fun of the Vikings you want. They are going to the playoffs. Our team will watch it all on TV. They are a franchise on the way up. We are watching them from 3rd place in the NFC-N. Bottom-feeders with Detroit.

We are in denial. We think we're something special and the Vikings couldn't possibly be a better franchise. This is "Lovie Smith" thinking. Loser thinking.

I'm not saying we can't rebuild the Bears and overtake both the Packers and the Vikings. I'm saying it won't happen with a Lovie Smith team.
    Go Bears!

I agree that AP is a monster. Last night, I thought I saw AP stiff arm two defenders at one time, with the second guy flying backwards after the push. Frazier has put a good team together, but the team is fully dependent on AP. And he just went crazy this year. He is awesome, but I dont know if his performance this year is something repeatable, esp with him being in the league for so long.

IMO, the Bears need a solid O-line, and we can see how far this team will go. I still dont understand why Tice was promoted.

Benj what they have that the Bears don't is a OL. The Beras might match up better everywhere else(minus RB) but that OL is key to making the playoffs. And Lovie has failed to recognize it, fix it, develop it, or hire someone that could. All of that is on him b/c he's the HC, he's in charge of the staff, the players and their development, and eventually the teams success.

His failure of the OL has lead to the failure of the team, and it should be the primary reason he is jettisoned from HH, along w/the rest of his staff.

I would say a lot of blame for the line goes on Emery this year. Even from afar he had to know the OL was shit. And he did nothing. The great scout, the man who says the proof is in the tape sat by with a crap OL.
