you cant blame people like me who didnt think they would make the move. We have seen many instances where he should have been canned and it didnt happen. This is going to be an exciting offseason with a totally new vision unless they hire another dungy guy lol. Cant wait to see who we are targeting for coach

Jay Glazer reports: The Bears have already asked for permission to interview Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

And the best part is they didnt wait a month to "evaluate" the process to fire him lol Taking care of business this early can let us move on to hire as quickly as possible so they can move on to the roster

no more thumbing their butts in chicago about time

Good news is that out of all the new HC positions available now, bears are the closest to a contender. AND we are a storied franchise. Shouldn't be hard to find good candidates

    Some parting thoughts.

In trying to keep this in perspective, what this allows the Bears is AN OPPORTUNITY to make things better. Nothing more. We can make this better and we can make this worse. What Emery does here will define the team for the next several years as well as build or break his reputation as a GM.

Lovie had some really good attributes. He had both his players devoted to him as I have never seen before. We may never see this again to the level that Lovie Smith had. However, I also believe that this trait was his undoing. As a manager, you have to stay objective about your employees. While you can be their friend (and should be IMO), you have to be able to understand when someone is doing the job or is not doing the job and be able to take action. Taking action to terminate someone that is trying their best to do a good job for you, is working hard, and is a good person is not an easy thing to do. Yet that responsibility comes with managing any operation. You need to be able to hold people accountable or the operations will not perform and will take you down with it. IMO, this is exactly what took Lovie down.
There are really only two answers to this, You have to be able to stay unattached enough to be able to tell when one is not performing and be able to take corrective action or you have to surround yourself with people good enough that you won't have to worry about removing them. Lovie was not able to do either here in Chicago.
I do think that it is possible that Lovie will not only succeed elsewhere, but even be an exceptional coach. He has some great attributes, but also has some fatal flaws. He is smart enough I think to work on them if he will bring himself to admit that they are flaws rather than attributes. Loyalty is an attribute, but taken too far is a flaw. He needs to learn this. If he can fix those things or land in an environment where he has capable people around him that he doesn't have to worry about selecting, I can see him becoming a top coach.
However, he was not going to succeed here any longer. He had not made those decisions, and was keeping people that were not doing their job. Because of it, he was putting out a mediocre product year after year and his teams may have had the passion about Lovie, they did not display the same sort of passion on the field. It was time for him to go and hopefully grow somewhere else.

Now hopefully, a guy as sharp as Emery can make the right call for CHicago and our next HC. I want him to shoot for the moon. I really don't want to swap a mediocre coach for another mediocre coach. If that would have been the case, we needed to have kept Lovie. AT least everyone liked him. Lovie was not a bad coach and if we are to do better, we need to shoot for one of the best, else we won't have improved. Very interesting things this off-season!

    Sorry for the long post.

It'd be wild to have a HC that wasn't a DC. I'm very ready for that. Haven't had that since Ditka... who never really coordinated anything... just watched Landry and took great notes, apparently.

I want Gruden, but I can't see this team hiring him. He's gonna cost a lot and I'm not sure he's not a pushover. But maybe I'm still thinking int he past... I sort of trust Emery at this point.

    I'm liking Emery so far.

He was pretty decisive in grabbing Marshall for a what appears to be a steal at this point. Many thought it was risky.
If we move to a 3-4, Shea McClellin makes much more sense. I like what Jeffrey has shown so far. If he has a decent work ethic, he'll be a very solid WR.

Obviously, time will tell. I do believe that Emery is showing that he has a plan and is willing to execute it decisively. Time will tell.

Just glad Emery moved fast and now can be in the mix for the best potential candidates.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

I agree. Although most of the best ones are still employed through the playoffs
