a few thoughts
One, whether you love them or hate them, Thanks to JA and Lovie for taking this team out of the dumpster fire it was in the 90's to something that is at least 1/2 respectable. It was a huge turn around and both were very involved in that.
Neither were able to take the team to the next level so they deserved to go though. So this was needed. It sounds like Emery is smart enough to not shoot for a retred, and will go w/a young O minded guy, which we need. If that happens I hope they bring in a smart DC, maybe even Ron Rivera who was able to blend the 3-4 and 4-3 rather well in his time in SD and if we are going 3-4 route would be a smart move to help tranistion it.
Assuming that the majority of the staff goes, thanks also to Hot Rod and Dave Toub who helped keep this team relevant regardless of how bad this O played. And to the others, Drake/Babich/Tice don't let the door hit your ass, no one wants that residue left when you leave.
There is a lot of chatter via Chicago news papers and inside analysts saying that this might be Cutlers last year w/the Bears, for various reasons(I'm not saying this is right so don't shoot me or think I agree with it, but it bares mentioning and discussing). so here are what they are saying: Cutler all but got to run the show for the last few years and it didn't end up very well, and he's also come off as hard to work with. There is also the injury/concussion issue; pointing that the concussion thing is becoming the death nail for the league. The last point is that the leauge is now trending to young qb's who get paid a qtr of what vet qb's get and are still able to go and win(Cam Newton 22 mil 4 years and cannot renegotate after 3), so why pay a guy like Cutler 2-3-4 times that for the same result.

It will be nice to see what a Emery can do now with a full scouting dept. and a HC of his choosing.
I wonder if there will be more of a youth movement esp. on D or make a smoother transition and keep some of the older players.
I sure hope to hell we retain Cliff Stein. The man is a cap master.
I don't think we can keep both Rod and Toub but keeping one of them should be a main consideration.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

670 guys said it's not uncommong to keep a guy or 2 from the former regime. So it's possible, but I really hope they clear out the whole cast and start from scratch. Guy's like Toub/Hoke are on their way out as they move up....Maybe Hoke gets the DC job(it's rumored he'll get a DC job sooner then later). But it's time to get a new direction and I think as loyal as some of the players are to Lovie keeping any of his guys here would not help smooth it out.

IDK but I don't want something fixed that's not broke. I'd keep both Rod and Toub. I'd also keep Rusty in his current position. The rest can apply for unemployment as far as I'm concerned.

Personally, I'd be just fine with them keeping Marinelli as DC--but that's up to the HC to decide.
