    2012 review of JaMarcus Webb

Actually played pretty well during the second half of the season. He actually outplayed by a big margin Carimi throughout the season IMO. Tice seems to have gotten through to Webb. LT is not our biggest weakness on the OL. The interior of our OL needs to be addressed before Tackle IMO. There were too many times that we couldn't get a good push on 3rd and short or goalline situations.

Webb needed a ton of help all season long - to the very end. Yes, he did look better to me as the season went on. But I don't want to see our offense crippled in 2013, because we have to have max-protect blocking. It sucked the life out of our defense. Skill players were turned into blockers, rather than running routes.

If Webb is decent as a starter now, that would sure make Emery's job easier this off-season. When the new head coach, OC and oline coach get hired, I'll be curious to see what their objective opinion of our oline personnel is. Obviously, most of the OL is not starter-quality. Some are probably fine as backups (I was thinking this may be the case for Webb, since he required help so much, all through the year).

In the past, we've talked about how the interior line is far easier to fix through the draft. I'd like to see 2 of our top 3 picks go to offensive linemen. I realize we don't have a pick in the 3rd round. But even a 2nd and 4th round pick of interior linemen would probably give us 2 starters.

Then pick up a high-quality guy in free agency. If Webb is not the answer, I believe we'll have to spend big money in FA for a solid LT.

He's at worst a great back-up swing tackle. So I believe that we keep him for depth.

    I agree.

I grew so frustrated with Webb over the past couple of years, that I have a REALLY difficult time viewing his play objectively now. I do believe he's taken significant strides in improving. Most of us here, probably have a difficult time giving him credit for improving.

I just don't know if he's improved to the point he can be a solid starter at LT. But, I do agree that he could be a very solid swing tackle for us now. It will be interesting to see what the new coaches think about him.

Im really interested in seeing the new coaching staffs evaluations and who they decide stays, goes, or has to stay cause limited resources. There can be a case made all five guys need to be replaced. Next step is to see which ones completely stunk or did they stink cause of coaching. Everyone knows I think Webb just flat out stinks but hey I'm willing to see the next hc take on it

    Webb

Not to offend any mods if the thread was closed for some reason I missing you can remove this I just think its a good discussion

Yes he had help but maybe there is something salvageable here by better coaches

From watching him I'm noticing a lot better footwork and he does have a great ability to finish blocks that he starts off well

To be short he would be a great tackle IF (not saying he is or I think he will be) i stress again IF, he could get vastly better at the point of contact and set us his blocks better with much improved footwork

I think we keep him but also look for upgrades

IMO gaurd and center take priority
