This is a fun thread. Obviously, we don't know doodly squat about our coaches, schemes or personnel. But I thought it would be interesting to see how we all view our chances for 2013. Is it going to be bleak, average or great? Is this a team needing a major rebuild/overhaul, or is it a team than just has a few holes to fix?
8-8. new coach, new philosophy, huge adjustments bring 8 losses, talent provides 8 wins.
Regardless of what I know or don't know about next years team, I'm going to be positive and say we make a serious run next year. If we can fix the issue we had in the second half of the season and play an entire season like we did for the first 8 games, we have a really good chance to make some waves in the playoffs. Plus putting positive vibes out makes it possible for me to stay cool while being bombarded by annoying Vikequeen fans here in MN.

Yes, we will have new schemes and coaches, and this is tough. But I also believe that if we (for once) have a rock solid oline on offense, we will see a better team. The offense will certainly score more than in recent years. We will see fewer of the 3-and-outs, and consequently our defense will benefit from this also.
Also, folks assume we will go to a 3-4 defense. This may not be the case. The 4-3 has made a bit of a comeback in the NFL in the last couple of years. Everything in the NFL is cyclical. Things go out of vogue, then come back again. It is possible that we'll see a 4-3 defense, even with a new DC. And we didn't play that much pure cover-2 this season anyway. People talk like that is what we play all the time. Our defense is much more diverse than that. Sure, the defensive scheme may be a big change, but I don't see it being an Armageddon situation where the "D" all of a sudden sucks.
I am hopeful, and expect a better team in 2013 than what we've had in the past 2 years.
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm glad to stop feeling down about this team. It's a new year, and I choose to be positive for a change. I'm believing for a play-off birth season next, and maybe even a deep run. Anything can happen, but until I see next year play out different, I'm going to expect the best. There will plenty to discuss and complain about, but my overall outlook is going to be positive. Why not?Quote:

I'd actually be happier with 8-8 next year and some total team balance and direction than I was with a very messy 10-6 year with an almost non-existent offense.

I really don't get the people that are saying in the poll losing season or 8-8 and 9-7. What the hell do you think we are rebuilding here, we have 3 top WRs, 2 real good RBs and a top QB. I know some will say oh but our Defense is old we have 4 players with over 10 years of playing time 2 or them made the Pro Bowl and one of the other should have. No I am not saying these guys can play 10 more years but 3 out of the 4 should be good for the next year or two while we draft their replacements. Yes we need some new guys on the line and a good TE all can be done in FA, heck we might even add a WR. My point is we are not a rebuilding team we are team that needs to add some key players to put us over the top.
I am basing this on a good HC decision by Emery. I am thinking anywhere between 9-7 to 12-4, and a decent run in the postseason.
