Take your pick of WR candidates the Bears have run out there over the years.
Marshall is great... Jeffrey is an unkown.
Everyone else is pretty much a dud. Bennett is a number three at best on our team... and likely nothing more than a 3 on any of the current playoff teams (minus Minny)
Outside of those three... our WR crew has been a joke for years.

No question about the past; I thought you were talking about the current WR roster. On the latter, I must disagree.
Jeffery is a PROMISING ROOKIE, not an "unknown". With experience and coaching (better than Drake please), he's going to be a star #2. He was the most productive rookie WR in the league early on before he got hurt in Jacksonville.
Bennett is a fine #3 possession guy who's season was marred by injury and mis-use (see: Hester, Devin).
We could use a speedy 4th slot-WR in the draft this year to develop as a Knox replacement and backup returner, but otherwise the WR corps looks pretty solid especially if Joe Anderson continues to come on and makes the team next August like I think he might. The problem this year was far less one of lack of talent and much more due to injuries, coaching mismanagement, and a porous OL which made the passing game all but impossible.

I say Jeffery is an unknown, because while he showed flashes... it is still just a handful of games. Need to see a full season out of him before he loses the unnkown tag.

yeah. I'm also ok with the WR group other than having a burner with good hands. As a group, they did not do well this year. Even Marshall - as good as he is -- dropped too many. Not sure what it was. Their coaching, lack of good practices, Jay being off the mark or some combination of all of these, but Bennett is usually Mr. reliable. He dropped too many. Jeffrey was hurt too often and he went through a stretch where he dropped too many.
Hopefully a new work ethic and high spirits for next year will make them come out swinging next year.

Here's what is definitely "known", Benj. Short of Bowe or Jennings miraculously arriving in Chicago via FA, Jeffery will be our #2 next year and he looks to be a damn good one I wouldn't trade with many other teams' equivalents.

Oh no doubt. I don't mean it to be a slight against him, but we just simply dont know who he is as a WR yet. That is all I am saying.

He had a lot of nice things to say about Lovie too both before and after he canned him. I wouldn't single this out as any sign one way or the other that he won't be looking for a better performing TE.

There aren't a whole lot of teams who have three any better than that group.
Jeffery played better than most rookies would have and he showed some incredible ball skills. He needs to learn routes and timing just like any other WR but had he not been injured he may well have been one of the top rookie WRs in the league.
Bennett and Marshall are vets who can be depended on to make key catches and keep the passing game productive once we have one that actually works.
What we need is a deep threat who doesn't wear #23 and a line that can protect Cutler long enough to give him time to use him.
The receiving core is as good as it's ever been anytime over the past ten years.
