Emery not addressing the line this past off season left me scratching my head. My question to you guys is, was this a move to insure Lovie's demise or was it a just a boneheaded move by a rookie GM? Either way, it has me a bit worried. I'm wondering what you guys think.
He actually addressed that in his press conference. Go to the main Chicago Bears website and look at the multimedia section. He addresses it there. Basically, when he was ready to pick an OL, there was only one person worth getting and he graded out about the same as Carimi.

I'm still conflicted on his decision.lol He could of got one of those stud guards to help the young guys on outside, or give up some picks in trade or moving up in the draft. We been close with Lovie, he needed a better line. 06 our line was better than decent and we wentt to the Bowl. I guess I fear the unknow. That era inbetween Ditka and Lovie was pretty bad. Doing worse witout Lovie is just as realistic a possiblity as doing better.
He also made it clear that he was looking at tackle last year in the draft and FA, not guard. That they were comfortable with the interior starters. Of course, Emery had no way of knowing then what a cluster fuck Mike Tice would later make of the LG spot all year long.Quote:

He was happy with Garza and Louis and was in hopes someone would step up for the other guard spot. Happy with 2 of 5. He couldn't find an upgrade to tackle without making a big move, which esstenial means trading. I don't know who was worth a pick or not but looking at the nfl draft order there were 5 tackles taken before the Alshon pick(which i like).
If I were a bettin' man I would say Emery let Tice and all his guru re-treads, experiments, and cast-offs fail so he could do a clean re-boot of the whole OL. I think we will see many fresh faces on the OL.
