I agree. Hey, I'm not saying Cutler is a bad QB. I also agree he's the best QB we've had in several years. I'm still hoping he will ultimately BE elite.
All I'm saying is that the guy is still a work in progress. He'll be 30 years old in a few months, so if he's ever going to take that step to elite status, then it better be soon. People jump all over Ponder having the higher quarterback rating, but I can excuse Ponder at this point because he's 24 years old and still developing. He is raw as can be. But he could still end up being a solid QB in the NFL.
One last point. Cutler seems to have regressed a bit to me. I wonder if getting his brain scrambled during his Bears tenure (no offensive line, and taking brutal physical beatings) may have hurt his decision making. He does get happy feet now, and some of his decisions are pretty bad/ugly. If we can get a solid oline in front of him, so he can relax a bit, and not have to fear getting a lobotomy by guys like Suh - maybe that is all he needs to settle down and BE elite.
