Cutler rated the worst QB in the NFC-N, and 20th QBR in the NFL.
Even Ponder was rated better.

Jay Cutler
QBR: 51.9
Passer rating: 81.3
Comment: Cutler pushed the ball downfield as much as any NFL quarterback after reuniting with receiver Brandon Marshall, but with modest success. His average pass traveled 10.0 yards in the air, the second-highest in the NFL. But his average yards gained per attempt, 7.0, ranked No. 16. He was vexed when defenses sent blitzes, partially because of the Bears' patchwork offensive line, but in the end Cutler had the league's fourth-worst QBR against it.
The only NFL quarterbacks worse against the blitz were Brandon Weeden, Mark Sanchez and Brady Quinn.
Cutler played well late in games, registering the third-best QBR in the fourth quarter and overtime, and it's worth noting the Bears won 10 of his 15 starts. Over the past three seasons, the Bears are 27-13 in games he starts and 2-6 in all others. In 2012, QBR deemed Cutler the league's most effective scrambler. He rushed for a first down on 36.6 of his scrambles.
1 Peyton Manning, DEN 84.1
2 Tom Brady, NE 77.1
3 Colin Kaepernick, SF 76.8
4 Matt Ryan, ATL 74.5
5 Aaron Rodgers, GB 72.5
6 Robert Griffin III, WSH 71.4
7 Alex Smith, SF 70.1
8 Russell Wilson, SEA 69.6
9 Drew Brees, NO 67.9
10 Eli Manning, NYG 67.4
11 Andrew Luck, IND 65
12 Ben Roethlisberger, PIT 62.8
13 Tony Romo, DAL 62.7
14 Matt Schaub, HOU 62.6
15 Matthew Stafford, DET 58.9
16 Cam Newton, CAR 54.2
17 Christian Ponder, MIN 53.8
18 Josh Freeman, TB 53.1
19 Ryan Tannehill, MIA 52.3
20 Jay Cutler, CHI 51.9

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

again, cutler has the tools, but he seems to lack that extra gene that the sb winning "elite qb's" have. I hope they wait until next year and extend him based on his performance then.

let me also say I'm not a fan of the qbr, and I think a legit O minded HC and a much improved OL will do wonders for Cutler, but if they don't, much like Lovie it might just be time to move on. Either Cutler(as good as he is) is good enough to get to the next level or he cannot. And just like Lovie the Bears might to worse or better, but if neither can get it done then it does the Bears no good to stand pat.

I guess thats what it looks like when we go from an OC to a pixy dust scenario of an OC

the worst starting QB is better than Cutler. Ponder is in no way better than our QB

If we can hire a coaching staff that can develop in-house talent, then maybe we could bring in a young "project" QB and develop him into a solid backup for now, and have the possibility of a "Plan B" if Cutler doesn't improve.

I put about as much stock into this shitty stat as I do all the crappy propeller head baseball stats made up by nerds who never played the game and couldn't evaluate tape of actual play if their lives depended on it. The way Jason Cambell looked behind this OL is proof enough of where this O would have been without Jay and his play extending in the face of pressure every drop back.

I thought Ponder looked like what he is, a young (age 24), raw talent who is getting better and better. Cutler shows promise, but is rated lower than Ponder for a reason - he makes too many boneheaded decisions. I'm hoping a solid offensive line will let Cutler evolve into a better QB, and he will ultimately be a better QB than Ponder. Time will tell.
I will say this. If Cutler cannot improve his decision making, then Ponder may have a better career than Jay. I can excuse Ponder due to him being a young raw talent. Jay has been in this league long enough to have improved his decision making.

I agree Cutler is missing something to be an elite QB in the league. I also am a true believer that his mood definitely plays a lot into how productive he is on gameday... if he is not happy (or if the whole team is struggling) it just seems he goes through the motions.
Also I'm still waiting for Tice to "change the launching points" for Cutty in the passing game. Apparently what he meant in the pre-season was he hoped Cutty could still throw the ball while being thrown to the ground by a defender.
But IMO... he's the best to take the snap from center for Da Bears since Erik Kramer

Not exactly going out on s limb here and Jay's ten times the QB Erik ever was. Let's not forget Erik played behind one of the better OLs in the league his entire time in our uni.
