What kind of background do YOU think is best, for our new Chicago Bears head coach? Should we pick an offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, special teams coordinator, former NFL head coach, or reach into the college head coach ranks?
I'm curious what you guys think is BEST here.

As far as the DC and St goes we have two of the best right here in Chicago so why look, unless they want to leave keep them.
A experienced OC at least. We need someone to get the "O" straightened out quickly.

I'm not sure it really matters. A head coach should know enough about all three sides of the ball to be able to pick the best coordinators. They are the ones who need to be the experts and innovators. It is the OC the DC and STC who really need to pay attention to the details.Quote:

Good poll. NFL OC preferably. Regardless, an HC that understands the importance of Scoring vs Yardage, and someone who is adaptable.
This league is about the O right now, you have to know how to run it, and adjust to the new rules as they come down. It's also easier to keep contenuity in the O if the HC actually gives a shit about it, which Lovie didn't. Score pointed out to multiple occassions where Lovie inferred that his D was part of the O; which is a bad idea in todays league.
I will say that in the Fact/Fiction article of ESPN I kind of agree w/the idea that the HC whether O or D minded won't matter as much if he hits on his coordinators, that was Lovie's biggest problem. How many of the guys under Lovie as OC have a job right now w/an NFL team and are succeeding? If Lovie could have tapped a guy like Clements or McCoy as his OC sooner he might still be hired; if he would have also taken his say in the O players as well.
