29th in the NFL in passing O sounds more like it too me. Amazingly bad considering we had one of the best WRs in the game who played all 16 weeks. Just terrible. Upgrading this facet (OL, receivers, coaching) ought to be Emery's #1 area of focus.

Yeah, I agree.
I'm actually pretty excited to see the new coaching staff begin. I do believe the OL will be fixed this off season. This alone will help tremendously. We can let the max-protecting skill players return to being weapons. Get a solid receiving TE to help Cutler out. And if we had 1 more WR who was reliable running routes and with solid hands, then even if we have an injury to a WR, we still have some trustworthy talent out there for Cutler to throw to.
And just having better protection for Cutler will let the guy settle down a bit. This alone (that feeling of better OL protection) will translate into better performance by Cutler. Now that the season is over, I've been reflecting upon the brutal beatings (vicious physical beatings) that Cutler has endured since coming to the Chicago Bears. If the truth were known, I believe the guy has probably had his brains scrambled significantly more than the "official" concussion count that we have for him. That directly affects his performance.
So, I'm thinking it's not "pie in the sky" wishful thinking that the offense will be better next year. I'm thinking it's going to be a huge improvement.
I was pretty critical of Brown awhile back. But I need to come clean here
I watched his plays (I've recorded the games) and I have to admit he looks pretty darned solid to me. He may very well be a solid starter at some point. Man, the guy is really quick too. I was so angry over our OL guys this year that I was honked off about thinking Brown would be any good. But I was wrong.
I think he's going to pan out as a solid player.
My God, you guys are being pretty hard on Brown, don't you think? He's an udfa rookie adjusting from college OT to NFL OG (which by all accounts is where he prob fits best). He only played a few games and had a few good series and a number of mental blunders too...as you would expect thrown in there via the Tice OL clown school merry-go-round like he was.
He was reasonably well regarded enough to be thought of as a potential mid-round pick last year who fell undrafted thanks to some past behavioral issues (hopefully just dumb youth stuff). He was sought after by multiple teams immediately after the draft and chose to sign with Chicago, probably becasue he wisely saw a quicker opportunity to see the field here. Lets give the guy at least one full offseason and a decent OL coach to develop him first. He should make the team next year prob as a reserve OG and he has a shot to become a starter on the inside in time if he is handled properly (in other words, not like CWill was).
