Well, yeah Boomer, your fundamentals are going to tend to break down when you're running for your life all the time. Also, I think Cutler at his best is not a straight drop back pocket passer. He always looks sharper when he rolls out or at least slides up or to the the side. Having said that, there is certainly room for improvement and bad habits are still bad even if there's a logical cause for them to have developed.

Get him a LT who can pass protect, a TE who can threaten the middle, put Forte back in the mix as a receiver, and see how he does. If his fundamentals are still flawed, by all means, I hope the Bears address it with him and that Cutler isn't so much of a snot that he won't listen. I feel that the mere fact that Emery is target locked on offensive minded guys with backgrounds developing QBs as HC candidates bodes well for getting Cutler back on track. He is by far the most talented QB the Bears have had in my lifetime and I'm glad that we have a football man in charge who sees this and is actively working to maximize his chances for success. Angelo thought that merely acquiring a quality QB was all you had to do, and Lovie didn't know anything more about the position than to say it's the guy who puts his hands under the center's butt and says hut-hike. For the first time in DECADES, I feel this team is making the moves that scream out to be made.

Boomer is right, the NFL recommends grimacing the opposite side of the tackle. Jay was obviously grimacing to the same side on that first one. He gets that down, he'll have more completions.

On the last one, look at his toes, they aren't even together. The guy has to get this stuff right.

Per usual, it's all the OL's fault. Guess what, more then not he was not hurried or sacked. 38 sacks 434+ attempts, lets assume that he's hurried 2x's as often as sacked(that's a big number and I doubt it was that often), 76+38 114 times out of 434 attempts. That leaves a solid 300 attempts where he was clean....what happened then?

Stop w/this idea that he'll be good enough just w/a OL or this or that. HE needs to improve or it won't matter.

I completely agree. I don't think the O looked very prepared. I was actually thinking that just the other day. I was going actually say something about it, but Lovie is gone and I figured I'd just see what the new regime brought in. It was not a very fiery brand of football they were playing. At least, the wide receivers showed great potential, but were often injured and Marshall was grtting the ball anyway. I just wonder, in retrospect, if the regression of Cutler into often not looking past his first target and holding onto the ball were because the offense wasn't prepared in tc and practice to perform reasonably? I'm just saying if someone with a strong offensive philosophy came in, many of the dips in play last year could be fixed earlier in the season.
