I think I would more charaterize it as Lovie has screwed HIMSELF over with the OC spot. He had three shots at it.

Benj does make some good points though. Maybe it was a combination of the two.
I'm "over it" now, and just want to move on. I wish Lovie the best (I really do) and I just want us to do better. No more 3rd place finishes in the NFC-N and being a bottom-feeder with Detroit. No more missing the playoffs.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

So.... you dont buy anything that I stated? He was behind the 8 Ball every time but with Turner.

No Benj, it's not that. I agree he had crappy OC's, but I just find it hard to empathize with it when he chose them. ANd when he chose a bad one and failed, they let him choose another. And they same thing would happen. At some point you have to say it's either he is horrible at picking talent or it's not all on the OC.
But really, I'm like 99 on this. I really don't care any more. As far as I'm concerned. He is the greatest man and coach that has ever lived and everything that happened to him was the players fault.
But I'm still glad he takes the greatest coach on earth shtick somewhere else.

You're a moron, Benji, and possibly the most acerbic person I've ever talked to. First of all, if it weren't for the fact that Lovie Smith and his coaching staff failed to identify the players who were causing the offense, defense, or special teams to not live up to their full potential over the course of the past nine years, we wouldn't have this issue. Lovie Smith was the ultimate arbiter of such decisions that were to be made, and he failed repeatedly. Just because you drink the Lovie Smith Kool-Aid doesn't mean that Lovie wasn't to blame for 100% of this team's playing woes.

Lovie did screw himself over, and over, and over. His best offensive coordinator was Ron Turner, and even he sucked major monkey balls. Anyone who believes Lovie should be absolved of all faults with the offense based on the offensive coordinators he's had in place is delusional. He made the choices he made with those hires, and none of them panned out well. It's sort of like opting to stick with Rex Grossman over Kyle Orton or Brian Griese: he may have won some games, but he screwed you out of the biggest one of them all, as well as about three other games.

Yeah, I had to google "acerbic" fuck you guys.

LOL! Fuck me? Why me? Why do I have to be the one who gets fucked simply because I have a broad vocabulary?
Oh, and by the way, you're welcome for the newest word added to your vocabulary.

Damn.... I forgot.... Lovie was the one throwing all those interceptions and dropping passes.... missing tackles..
Dags, I would love to live in your world where someone's mistakes can be blamed on someone else.

sigh...
Lovie may be gone, but the Lovie threads live on....
