could have sworn this was about CUtler and his shit mechanics and how they needed to improve......

Lovie missed 5 of 6 playoffs in the last 9 years, that's why he's fired, if he had the misfortune of having to look for a new OC during his contract year, well that's a him problem too b/c he should have found one when he was in the middle of his extension and not at the end.

Don't get me wrong, Lovie shares in the blame, but saying it is 100% on him is moronic

It was..... But some people like to blame all of Cutler's problems elsewhere.

Funny, Esiason was never known for having great mechanics himself,....

Boomer points that out, and he says that he got broken back down and built up again w/the NYJ's, and his completion % bears that out, in cincy' it was always in the low to mid 50's, w/the Jets it was high 50's to low 60's.

But this is a different era, football for qb's was MUCH tougher in the 80's and 90's then it is now. high 50's and low 60's was good to great for qb's then. Now in the passer league era you better be mid to high 60's.
I also like how guys that critise a player, coach or team are told to shut up if they haven't played, and then we they did they are told to shut up b/c they weren't good enough.....right b/c Boomer wasn't a great qb regardless of his "poor mechanics" from wiki: "At his retirement in 1997 he was among the most prolific quarterbacks in NFL history, finishing in the top 10 in many statistical categories." Anyone think that Cutler is going to be a top 10 qb in nfl history?

My favorite thing is when an out of town analyst is critical of a player and fans say he is a jackass and doesn't know what he is talking about because he doesn't watch all the games. Yet when another out of town analyst praises a player they are smart and are actually good at their job. No mention of not watching all the games at all. Not just Bear fans, but fans of all teams do this.

interesting talk in 670...wondering(no reason to take it as more then this) but said are talking to a lot of OC's to get a feel for what they think about Cutler and what their feelings were towards him in totality(ie did this group of potential coaches have overall positive or negative opinions of Cutler) and whatever that answer is, might be used to decide Cutlers future also. Just a thought about all the different coaches that are being interviewed.

Regarding the coaches getting interviewed, and their feelings towards Cutler:

Another way to look at all of this, is to view it from the business side. The Chicago Bears are a billion-dollar entity. It has considerable resources in place. Cutler is just one. But in the multi-billion dollar business world of the NFL, the QB is one of the more important assets that each of the 32 businesses have (or fails to have).

A good QB is an asset that is very difficult to acquire. Many of the 32 franchises do not have a good one. Some have gone years without one, and Chicago is the "poster boy" for how hard it can be to acquire one of these assets.

Good ones are usually not acquired through FA. And the Bears do not have a high enough draft pick to get a "can't miss" one. So it's a precious asset, even if it's not an elite QB. A "good one" is precious too.

So, when I personally think this all through, I come to the conclusion that it's not unreasonable to explore the possibility of making this "existing asset" work. It doesn't mean a new head coach HAS to keep Cutler. It doesn't mean a new HC has to kiss his butt either.

It just means that a sharp GM, like Emery, is trying to make the best deal here for the Chicago Bears to get the most out of its existing assets. In other words, we wouldn't want him to do the Jerry Angelo thing and hire a head coach for being able to jump out of a swimming pool.

I'm sure his final list will be with some guys who don't want Cutler, but I would believe there's got to be something more than his play, because his stats might not indicate it, he's using the most of what's around him (3 of of 4 of our best pass catchers were out or playing hurt/concussed for part of the year), Marshall was the only good wr this year, Forte was hurt much of the season, and that hurts on two fronts, offensively. With Forte, Jeffrey and Bennett out so much this year, and seeing the offense playing so bad, we forget that a popular reason for why we "let" the Packers ina few years ago, was that Bennett was the only offensive starter that didn't play, and it was theorized that Lovie didn't care about that game as Bennett wasn't even play ing. Also, that Forte had seemingly 1-3 big plays per game, either catching the ball, or running, keeping the defense honest. Bennett has the best hands of all our wr's and Forte always got the ball moving, and had pretty amazing YAC average, but that impact was lost this year. Now, if all of the wr's and Forte were playing at a high level(hell, don't forget Knox was the only legit downfield threat, too) I still think Cutler would've been below where we expect him, but his stats would've looked a lot better than how they do now. Anyway, to meld all of these different ideas and back to the point, Cutler didn't have as much to work with, yet again, and if it's obvious this was an abberation of quality play from the offense, you would think Emery wants someone who will make sure Cutty's ready to go next year, and seeing how Cutler's request of some wr's above 6'2 was met almost immediately,it would seem Emery would only let people who want Jay as qb. for a while be the next HC, unless attitude is a problem. Seeing how Lovie's dismissive attitude towards the media was frowned upon all across Halas Hall, how bad must Jay look? I would have to imagine, that combined with all of his good qualities, he still may be a bit of a headache, as we all now know how serious they are about media image, and that he's had many other run ins with the media, and other publicized problems with teammates and other players. Just wonder if all of that might be affecting him now that Lovie is gone, because Cutler's still widely accepted to be very good, and the only thing that brings down massively talented individuals are personality flaws

I'd actually like to hear what some other current qb coaches think of where his mechanics are. Not knocking Boomer but if the game can pass you by as a player, coach, and GM surely it stands to reason that for some of these analysts who played in a different era that the game passes some of them by. Passing mechanics as it stood in the 80's was an emerging skill then.
