Welcome... As I'm currently living in the Jax area, I know what it's like to have the ownership put money first.
The Jags most certainly improved with Khan as the new owner. Gene Smith needed to go, and I can't wait for the New Jags to improve.
I think the Bears used to be that way (money first). I think they sensed a huge fan revolt and tried to win the fans back. Yes, I remember the message board exploding over the lack of caring for a successful team.
Thank GOD something changed in the front Office for the Bears. The Jags are similar. Well let's say I think the Jags are what the Bears were a couple years ago.
The Bears never went after anyone. They didn't pay anyone for talent. They didn't care about losing to anyone. They only made half assed attempts at pleasing the fans. That's no longer the case for Bears fans, but that sounds like the Jags under the Weavers.
As for the Jags message board, they're lucky to have anyone on it.. lol Last time I checked on it, it was empty.
With Khan, maybe that will change.
One thing I like the Jags for over the Bears? Cheerleaders. :D Sorry, something about seeing them on the sideline...

And, not sure how much you know about Bears lore and history, but if you have any questions, this is definitely the right place to ask.

well, jaguars.com is actually HUGE... tons of members and tons of activity... way more than here believe it or not... not knocking this site cuz I like it, but ya jaguars.com is actually pretty big and active.

but ya... the weavers acted more the last few years... but it was lacking. My fear now though is that this Khan character is the new Jerry Jones of the NFL... he thinks he knows better and HAS to have a say in everything. Its already been reported that he has overstepped Gene on a few things already(not that gene is any good, but this means he will do it to any GM). Apparently when we tried to acquire teblow last offseason, it was Khan... when we drafted blackmon, something I'm glad we did, it was Khan and not Gene... and now again teblow rumors... speaking of blackmon, I love him, I think hes a 3 inch shorter version of Brandon Marshall... My best comparison is hakeem nicks.. he's only going to get better too he had a great rookie year, especially with the QB's throwing to him, and Cecil Shorts is a keeper too.

We'll see... this new owner gives me the scares a bit too... especially if the rumors of him wanting a GM who is going to be down with teblow are true

Very true, I think we've got a significant volume of "oldies" on here, not to mention Bears historians.

Welcome aboard Burz. Given the route you've taken to join our fair group, I think it's pretty cool. I was quite close with my Grandpa and we had some great times together, so in that respect, I think your new found fandome is not "jumping ship" from the Jags, but more so a show of honor and respect for your Gramps. With that, I hoist a cold one to your Grandpa for showing you the light and may he be lifting a cold one with Papa Bear as we speak.

Yeah, I'm not saying the traffic here is more or less than over there on Jaguars.com. When I purchased Jagsboard.com a couple of years ago, I checked out their boards, and it was kinda dead. Especially for an NFL team.

Crazy part is I kinda know their webmaster. I was good friends with that guys father. We were neighbors. Phil passed away, and I moved. So I lost touch with the Jags part of me. :D I still like them because their the underdog, and a local team.

Either way, I like both the Jags and Bears. Sucked I couldn't make the game in Jax this year. :(

while I am very up to date with the bears today and the last few years... past history and lore would probably be where I am lacking.. but I'll be sure to ask!

you hit the nail on the head there my friend! Thats what makes this transition, or dual fanhood if you will, possible. You cant force yourself into finding new emotions and loyalty, but you can when family is involved

Man, I don't know that I could post on a board by that name. Of course, some might say it was perfect for me...

sweet bro, i have a like minded friend here then! jags/bears lol... who woulda thought... I had jags season tickets for like 3 years strait a while back while I was in college. But now I work full time and have a wife and house and what not, and live about 2 and a half hours south in the palm bay/melbourne area so I havent made it up their recently... especially with the junk they have on the field right now.

btw, that message board you listed may very well be dead... www.jaguars.com however, is very active, that was the one I was referring too... unfortunately most members there are extreme homers who will defend even the most horrible of coaches and GM's, but as soon as those guys are fired, they then will pretend they always knew they should be replaced.
