Thread: Report: Bears will talk to Montreal coach Trestman - Chicago Tribune

The man is unflappable. A rarity among coaches - he speaks plainly clearly and does not use sports metaphors (ie, he does not utter bullshit soundbites for the cameras or questions).
I live in Montreal, and even though football has been played here for well over a century,
we lost the Als for a number of years because the fans (rightly so) were sick and tired of seeing a directionless, rudderless, organization,
shitting on the field for years.
When the team re-emerged (Baltimore Stallions relocated to Montreal) owner Bob Wetenhall (He was a co-owner of the Boston Patriots of the American Football League) promised to bring back exciting football to the city - he did.

Aside from bringing the team here, he made two other pivotal moves (Jim Propp as G.M, and Trestman as coach).
Even if you are not a fan of the Als, Trestman has made it an absolute joy to watch grown men playing the game with passion.

He's soft spoken, but don't let that fool you - accountability is his staple. Both from himself, and his players.

I don't know if he's what the Bears are looking for (some sort of ruse to through onlookers off the trail of their true intent?),
but he is deserving of the interview, and although a 'offensive' mind, the man knows what he wants from the defensive side of the field.

I'd hate to see him leave Montreal, but if he goes back to the NFL, I'd be happy if he went to the Bears.

Emery is now rumored to be meeting with Kwale Bantu, the OC of the Zimbabwe Lancers (African League). With the addition of Bantu to the interview list, Emery now has 147 candidates on his "short list" for the Bears HC position. Emery did say this morning that there could be a few more candidates added as he travels on to China, Calcutta & possibly North Korea later this afternoon.

Some have begun calling this "The Emery Tour" of 2013.

I'm not sure i feel comfortable at all at the thought of setting precedent by signing a CFL coach to take over a playoff caliber team. If Angelo considered something like this, many would call him an idiot and rationalize for Emery. I think there has been too long of a honeymoon phase with Emery, because outside of maybe mcclellan, i don't think the personal moves to get this team going this year is too different from how Angelo would set it up (i could see the marshall trade happening, and even see him picking reiff). The point is, Emery hasn't really set his print on the team yet, and something like this is auspicious...
